Introduced dung beetles suppress methane emissions from cattle dung and alter the temporal dynamics of greenhouse gas flux Los escarabajos peloteros introducidos suprimen las emisiones de metano del estiércol de ganado y alteran la dinámica temporal del flujo de gases de efecto invernadero Besouros coprófagos introduzidos suprimem as emissões de metano do esterco bovino e alteram a dinâmica temporal do fluxo de gases de efeito estufa

open access: yesEcological Entomology, EarlyView.
Dung beetles suppressed cumulative methane flux from cattle dung by 85% and reduced total greenhouse gas emissions by 18%. Beetle activity accelerated initial CO2 release but did not alter total cumulative flux. N2O and NH3 fluxes were transient and not consistently driven by beetle presence.

Elevation shapes alpine snow algal blooms and their influence on albedo reduction

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Graphical summary of elevational trends in Sanguina‐dominated snow algal blooms. Increasing elevation was associated with larger cells, lower Chla content per cell, higher astaxanthin ratios, lower snow water content, and reduced cell‐normalized albedo, whereas algal cell density showed no consistent elevational trend.

National Relics: Secular Sacrality, Museums, and Heritage‐Making in Nineteenth‐Century Chile

open access: yesMuseum Anthropology, Volume 49, Issue 2, Fall 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines how objects and bodily remains are transformed and ritualized into national relics through collecting and exhibiting practices in museums. How Different Patterns of Policy Attention Drive Policy Diffusion: Evidence From China's River Chief System

open access: yesPolicy Studies Journal, Volume 54, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Despite extensive research on policy diffusion, the ways in which policy attention influences this process remain underexplored. This study addressed this gap by distinguishing between three types of policy attention—political speeches, policy issuance and field visits—and investigating their differential impacts when delivered by central and ...

Assessing the evolutionary distinctiveness of a highly threatened plant group: The urgency to preserve a unique lineage of evolution in Brazil

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 4, Page 1223-1237, July 2026.
Brazil's diverse flora is under several threats, with many unique lineages facing extinction, particularly in biodiverse regions like the Cerrado and campo rupestre. This study sheds light on the conservation needs of Cambessedesia (Melastomataceae), an endemic genus with 95% of its species endangered, using an approach to rank and prioritise species ...

Estudio paleomagnético del volcanismo de Campos de Calatrava [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
A first systematic paleomagnetic study has been carried out in the upper Miocene-Pliocene volcanism of the Campos de Calatrava region. 18 localities have been sampled and 14 of them yielded useful paleomagnetic results. A Pliocene paleomagnetic pole has been obtained for the Iberian Plate (Lat.=82.1ºN, Long.= 171.6ºE, A95=6.9).

Balancing tracks and trees: Assessing railroad impact on Brazilian biodiversity

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 4, Page 1345-1356, July 2026.
The Brazilian West–East Integration Railway (FIOL) aims to boost the national economy by improving commodity transport; however, it crosses three of Brazil's most biodiverse and fragile regions: the Caatinga, Cerrado and Atlantic Forest. Using digitised plant records and land‐use analyses, our study reveals significant vegetation loss within the ...
