Whole‐Genome Sequencing in Galicia Reveals Male‐Biased Pre‐Islamic North African Ancestry, Subtle Population Structure, and Microgeographic Patterns of Disease Risk

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 24, 31 December 2025.
Whole genome sequencing of Galicians (GALOMICS; 17.2 M variants) reveals a genetic landscape consistent with broader Iberian patterns, characterized by only five clusters. Phylogenetic analyses indicate recent divergence and mild regional inbreeding.

Assessing the Corn Belt as an anthropogenic barrier to migrating landbirds in the United States

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 5, October 2025.
Abstract Migrating landbirds adjust their flight and stopover behaviors to efficiently cross inhospitable geographies, such as the Gulf of Mexico and the Sahara Desert. In addition to these natural barriers, birds may increasingly encounter anthropogenic barriers created by large‐scale changes in land use. One such barrier could be the Corn Belt in the

A Paleotectonic Atlas of the African Plate: Permian to Recent

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Geology, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 231-279, October 2025.
ABSTRACT The fragmentary release of petroleum data defining the deep structure and stratigraphy of African basins has been integrated with existing literature to compile 19 tectonic maps over key geological intervals from Permian to Recent times. African plate margins range in their age of opening from Late Triassic (off Lebanon), through Early/Middle ...

Stable Carbon and Nitrogen Isotopes Show Evidence of Resource Partitioning Between Spinner Dolphins ( Stenella longirostris ) and Large Pelagic Fishes From the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, Volume 41, Issue 4, October 2025.
ABSTRACT We applied stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes to investigate the trophic ecology of four large pelagic predators from the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago (FNA), northeastern Brazil: spinner dolphin ( Stenella longirostris ), yellowfin tuna ( Thunnus albacares ), wahoo ( Acanthocybium solandri ), and great barracuda ( Sphyraena barracuda ). We

Wild Encounters: Analyzing Human–Animal Interactions in British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums Facilities

open access: yesZoo Biology, Volume 44, Issue 5, Page 461-473, September/October 2025.
We investigated the quantity and diversity of animal–visitor interactions in BIAZA‐accredited facilities, finding 740 opportunities for interactions across a range of contexts including walkthroughs and handling. Strengthening Amazon conservation through community‐based voluntary patrolling

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 3, June 2025.
Abstract Globally, environmental crimes are a major threat to biodiversity and the livelihood of local populations.
