Long‐term stability of conventional non‐regenerative periodontal treatment for furcation defects

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Furcation involvement (FI) in multi‐rooted teeth poses significant challenges in periodontal therapy due to complex anatomy and difficulty in achieving effective maintenance. FI is associated with increased periodontal destruction, especially in sites with narrow furcation entrances and deep root concavities.

Galectin‐4: A Novel Mediator of Human Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 3, September 2026.
Galectin‐4 correlates with intervertebral disc degeneration, independent of age, sex, or underlying pathology. Functionally, it activates NF‐κB signaling and induces pro‐inflammatory and matrix‐degrading responses, with stronger effects in nucleus pulposus cells, identifying it as a novel molecular player in disc degeneration.

Factors Associated With Endodontic Flare‐Ups: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, Volume 59, Issue 9, Page 1778-1791, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Endodontic flare‐ups, characterized by severe postoperative pain and/or swelling requiring unscheduled intervention, remain a clinically significant concern in root canal therapy. Identifying the factors associated with flare‐ups is important for anticipating and managing patient outcomes.

Dentine Regeneration With Calcium Strontium Silicate: In Vitro Odontogenic Differentiation, Antimicrobial Activity, Immunomodulation and In Vivo Pulpotomy in Rat Molars

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, Volume 59, Issue 9, Page 1871-1886, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim This study examined the in vitro and in vivo performance of calcium strontium silicate (CSR) as a novel biomaterial for vital pulp therapy (VPT), assessing its odontogenic differentiation, antibacterial activity, immunomodulation, inflammatory response and dentine regeneration potential compared to calcium silicate (CS) and Mineral ...

Multiple External Invasive Root Resorption and Calcification in Systemic Sclerosis—Case Report

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, Volume 59, Issue 9, Page 1963-1978, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim There are few reports in the literature of multiple external invasive root resorption (EIRR) lesions in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc), and an association between root resorption and SSc is not well established. We report the only case that comprehensively illustrates—with the combination of histopathology, cone beam computed ...

Nucleus Pulposus Resorption Following a Paraspinal Hook‐Needle Intervention for Lumbar Disc Herniation: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The paraspinal hook‐needle intervention is a minimally invasive needle‐based procedure performed under local anesthesia using a specialized hook‐shaped needle at clinically selected lumbar segments. We report the case of a 70‐year‐old woman who presented with intermittent low back pain for more than 10 years, recently aggravated and ...

Shaping Performance of XP4 versus ProTaper Next in C‐Shaped Canals: A Micro‐CT Study of 3D‐Printed Mandibular Second Molar Replicas

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 12, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction This micro‐computed tomography (micro‐CT) study aimed to evaluate the shaping ability of two nickel–titanium (NiTi) rotary systems—XP4 and ProTaper Next (PTN)—in 3D‐printed replicas of C‐shaped canals. Methods Two extracted mandibular second molars with C‐shaped root canals—one continuous (Melton's Category I) and one ...
