A new approach to canal surface with parallel transport frame

International Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, 2017
In the present study, we attend to the canal surfaces with the spine curve [Formula: see text] according to the parallel transport frame in Euclidean [Formula: see text]-space [Formula: see text]. We give an example of these surfaces and obtain some results about curvature conditions in [Formula: see text].

Piecewise Rational Parametrizations of Canal Surfaces

2014
Canal surfaces, as envelopes of one-parameter families of spheres, correspond to curves in Minkowski space. We show that the continuity properties of a canal surface are inherited from the continuity properties of the associated curve, i.e., two curves joined with G 1 or G 2 continuity in Minkowski space correspond to two canal surfaces joined with the

Statistical Surface Recovery: A Study on Ear Canals

2012
We present a method for surface recovery in partial surface scans based on a statistical model. The framework is based on multivariate point prediction, where the distribution of the points are learned from an annotated data set. The training set consist of surfaces with dense correspondence that are Procrustes aligned.

Slope of Water Surface in the Erie Canal

Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers, 1877
The importance of obtaining levels of extreme accuracy in any case in which the natural flow of water in rivers or canals is concerned is obvious, hut especially where it is desired to ascertain th...

Canal surfaces in Galilean 3-spaces

2017
Summary: In this paper, we define admissible canal surfaces with isotropic radius vector in Galilean 3-spaces and we obtain their position vectors. Also we give some important results by using their Gauss and mean curvatures.

Willmore canal surfaces in Euclidean space

2011
The authors give a classification of Willmore canal surfaces, that is, of surfaces that envelope a \(1\)-parameter family of spheres while extremizing the Willmore functional \(\int(H^2-K) dA\). As a key step in their classification the authors show that a Willmore canal surface is isothermic: as a consequence any Willmore canal surface has to be ...
