[Trabeculectomy versus canaloplasty].
Der Ophthalmologe : Zeitschrift der Deutschen Ophthalmologischen Gesellschaft, 2016Trabeculectomy provides an excellent reduction of intraocular pressure (IOP) and is the reference technique in the treatment of glaucoma patients. Canaloplasty is a relatively new surgical non-penetrating procedure for restoring the natural outflow pathway of aqueous humour.

[Comparison of canaloplasty with trabeculectomy].
Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde, 2014Trabeculectomy (TET) is still the gold standard in incisional glaucoma surgery. It achieves an efficient intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction. Unfortunately postsurgical complications of the procedure are frequent. Canaloplasty is a non-penetrating procedure, which aims at restoration of the natural aqueous outflow pathways, without subconjunctival ...

Canaloplasty Surgical Technique
2017The conjunctiva can be opened at either the fornix or the limbus. A rectangular, square or parabolic-shaped scleral flap measuring 5 × 5 mm is then created and includes 1/3 of the scleral thickness (approximately 300 μm, depending on the scleral thickness of the specific eye).

[Canaloplasty after trabeculectomy].
Der Ophthalmologe : Zeitschrift der Deutschen Ophthalmologischen Gesellschaft, 2016Canaloplasty after failed trabeculectomy is an operation with differing individual surgical situations, which depend on the extent of scarring in the preexisting bleb area and on the site of the fistula in the chamber angle itself. The results of 18 cases and the surgical technique are presented.

Viscocanalostomy and canaloplasty : Technique and results
Acta Ophthalmologica, 2013AbstractNon penetrating surgical procedures involving Schlemm canal represent a new challenge in glaucoma surgery. While allowing good IOP control this technics avoids major complications known with Trabeculectomy and avoids the need for a subconjunctival filtering bleb which shunts aqueous to nonphysiological routes.
