Decentralized control of inland navigation networks with distributaries: Application to navigation canals in the north of France [PDF]
Inland navigation networks are large-scale systems with large dead times, nonlinearities and variable time delays. They are composed of interconnected reaches. The management goal is to maintain the water level of each reach around a certain value. In this paper, a decentralized control approach is addressed to fulfill this objective.

Modeling and fault diagnosis of flat inland navigation canals [PDF]
This article regards the development of an analytical redundancy-based approach for detecting and isolating both sensor and actuator faults in flat inland navigation canals. Inland navigation networks are principally used for transport and are composed of many canalized natural rivers and artificial canals characterized by no slope.

Modeling of Interconnected Flat Open-Channel Flow: Application to Inland Navigation Canals
Inland navigation networks are composed of several artificial canals, usually characterized by no slope. These canals are large-scale systems that can be accurately described by means of the nonlinear Saint-Venant partial differential equations. However, the lack of an analytical solution for these equations is one of the reasons why simplified models ...

Fundamentals of training navigators of ships flying foreign flags when entering the inland waterways of the Russian Federation [PDF]
Navigation on inland waterways, such as rivers, canals, fairways via reservoirs and lakes is performed under conditions of a minimum under the keel clearance, hydrodynamic interaction between the ship's hull and underwater limits of the fairway, and the ...

A Novel Framework for Quantitative Evaluation of Resilience Performance of Sea Lanes of Communication. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Sea lanes of communication (SLOC) are perceived as intricate systems comprising shipping routes, key straits, and canals, which are increasingly vulnerable to external disruptions. This study proposes a holistic framework for resilience assessment on the system by introducing an advanced framework incorporating fuzzy logic, a critic weight ...

Regional Ionosphere Delay Models Based on CORS Data and Machine Learning
The ionospheric refraction of GNSS signals can have an impact on positioning accuracy, especially in cases of single-frequency observations. Ionosphere models that are broadcasted by the satellite systems (e.g., Klobuchar, NeQuick-G) do not include ...

Development of a hydro-environmental model for inland navigational canals [PDF]
Before railroad and lorry traffic became common, many canals were built for transportation purposes. Water quality in canals has become a major concern as maintenance of these historically active canals has declined. A generic canal model has been developed to simulate the hydro-environmental processes specifically relevant to inland navigational ...
