Long‐Term Depth Records of Satellite‐Tagged Northern Bottlenose Whales Reveal Extraordinary Dive Capabilities

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2025.
This study used records from 13 satellite tags deployed off Jan Mayen to provide an extensive description of the dive behavior of northern bottlenose whales in the Nordic Seas. Our findings demonstrate that this species has extraordinary capabilities to dive, and presumably feed, throughout the water column including at the sea floor.

Unusual Sperm Morphology in Two Sedentary Songbird Species

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2025.
We describe two dramatic evolutionary shifts in sperm morphology in songbirds, which are independent of but similar to two previously known shifts. Species with this atypical, “tadpole‐like” sperm morphology appear to share sedentary life histories with long‐term pair bonds, high paternal investment, and likely low post‐copulatory sexual selection ...

Exploring interdisciplinary aspects for conservation management: The case of land hermit crab wildlife trade in Taiwan

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 7, Issue 8, Page 2051-2064, August 2025.
Abstract Most conservation policies and management primarily focus on vertebrate animals. However, considering the high demand for invertebrate species in the exotic pet markets, it is crucial to give them great consideration. This research explores Coenobita purpureus, a land hermit crab newly recorded in Taiwan in 2017.

A Gap in Reporting: Student Demographic Information in Academic Universal Screening Studies

open access: yesPsychology in the Schools, Volume 62, Issue 8, Page 2766-2777, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Universal screening is an essential practice in any multi‐tiered system of support, but without understanding the demographic makeup of students in studies that inform current practices, the effectiveness in which instruments and screening approaches work best for students of demographically diverse backgrounds cannot be assessed.
