We developed an impedimetric biosensor by electrochemically oxidizing screen‐printed carbon electrodes, allowing the covalent immobilization of Concanavalin A for selective holotransferrin detection. After the target protein is captured, the device monitors changes in charge–transfer resistance using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.

An electrochemical biosensor employing Canavalia ensiformis lectin immobilized on a Prussian Blue‐modified glassy carbon electrode was developed for label‐free glucose detection at submicromolar levels. The integration of lectin biorecognition with the conductive Prussian Blue layer ensured stable and selective signal transduction.

Bacterial Cellulose Synthase Catalyzes the Formation of Chitin
Recombinant BcsA‐B from Rhodobacter sphaeroides is shown to cleave UDP‐GlcNAc (uridine diphosphate N‐acetylglucosamine), generating chitin with distinct β‐chitin Raman bands. These findings reveal that a cellulose synthase can process an alternative nucleotide sugar, providing biochemical evidence for the co‐synthesis of cellulose and chitin.

[Characteristics of Canavalia proteins].
The purpose of this work was the isolation and characterization of grain protein from five Venezuelan Genotypes (U-02, Yaracuy, Valle De La Pascua, Originally Tovar) of Jack Bean (Canavalia ensiformis). The average protein content from these genotypes was 31.37%, it ranged between 28.44% and 33.05%.
