Convergence and parallelism in the evolution of plant metabolism
Similar traits in different organisms may originate from shared ancestry or evolve independently. The terminology used to define phenotypic similarity is often confusing. This review attempts to clarify the definitions and present examples from plant domestication and specialized metabolism to explain how complex traits evolve repeatedly in plants ...

ABSTRACT Cannabinoids, such as tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA), cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and cannabichromenic acid (CBCA), are bioactive and medicinally relevant compounds found in the cannabis plant (Cannabis sativa L.). These three compounds are synthesised from a single precursor, cannabigerolic acid (CBGA), through regioselective reactions ...

A chemotaxonomic analysis of cannabinoid variation in Cannabis (Cannabaceae) [PDF]
Cannabinoids are important chemotaxonomic markers unique to Cannabis. Previous studies show that a plant's dry‐weight ratio of Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) to cannabidiol (CBD) can be assigned to one of three chemotypes and that alleles BD and BT encode alloenzymes that catalyze the conversion of cannabigerol to CBD and THC, respectively.

Cannabidiol (CBD) exhibits increased reactivity, stronger CB1 receptor binding, and enhanced cytotoxicity against A431 squamous carcinoma cells compared to 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU). Integrated DFT, molecular docking, and experimental analyses demonstrate CBD's improved stability and binding affinity, highlighting its potential as an alternative ...

Managing Brown Rot Disease of Citrus Fruit Using Plant Extracts
ABSTRACT Brown rot, caused by Phytophthora nicotianae and P. citrophthora, is a major disease of citrus fruit, leading to significant economic losses globally. Conventional fungicides are commonly used to manage this disease, but concerns have been raised due to environmental persistence, human toxicity and the emergence of resistant strains.

Separation of aroma compounds from industrial hemp inflorescences (Cannabis sativa L.) by supercritical CO2 extraction and on-line fractionation [PDF]
The use of supercritical carbon dioxide (Sc-CO2) extraction at 10 and 14 MPa and 40 \ub0C and on-line fractionation using two separators (Sep 1: 7 MPa/25 \ub0C; Sep2: 5 MPa/15 \ub0C) to recovery volatile compounds from the inflorescences of fiber type ...

Floristic Diversity of Riparian and Associated Vegetation Along the Amnay River (The Philippines)
ABSTRACT Riparian vegetation plays a critical role in maintaining ecological integrity along river corridors, yet it is highly sensitive to changes in hydrological and geomorphic conditions, particularly in sediment‐influenced tropical river systems.
