Genetic variation in zoophagy and dietary shift in the phytozoophagous tarnished plant bug, Lygus lineolaris

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 11, Page 1189-1195, November 2025.
Phytozoophagous insects such as Lygus lineolaris feed on plants and prey. This study assessed the genetic variability and heritability of zoophagy and dietary shift in 15 isofemale lines with access to Ephestia kuehniella eggs and with or without access to plant resources.

Evidence for Female Autodetection and Plasticity of Pheromone Response in Helicoverpa zea

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 11, Page 1236-1246, November 2025.
This study addressed detection and behavioral responses to conspecific pheromones (autodetection) in female corn earworm moths, Helicoverpa zea (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Electroantennogram recordings showed that prior exposure to pheromones significantly decreased antennal sensitivity.
