An Integrated Oxygen‐Supplying Device and Predictive Multiphysics Model for Extended Ambient Transport of Insulin‐Producing Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cell therapies typically rely on cold‐chain logistics and cryopreservation, limiting access and compromising cell quality. Here, a dual‐chamber device separates an oxygen‐supplying chamber from a hyaluronic acid cargo chamber, sustaining oxygen delivery for over 70 h and enabling ambient‐temperature shipment.

Inflow cannula design for biventricular assist devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of death throughout the developed world. With the demand for donor hearts far exceeding the supply, a bridge-to-transplant or permanent solution is required.

Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Cannula Malposition

open access: yes, 2020
Malposition of the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) cannulas is not frequently reported in central cannulation technique: we aimed to present an ECMO cannula malposition in follow-up in a neonate case.

Design optimization of bidirectional arterial perfusion cannula.

open access: yes, 2021
Determine if shortening the covered section of a self-expanding bidirectional arterial cannula, can enhance retrograde flow and thus reduce the risk of lower limb ischemia.

A Novel Drug‐Loaded Porous Parylene Electrode for Targeted Anti‐Inflammatory Therapy and Hearing Preservation in Cochlear Implantation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A porous parylene‐coated electrode loaded with dexamethasone was developed to reduce inflammation after cochlear implantation. In guinea pigs, the device provided sustained drug release, maintained biocompatibility, improved auditory brainstem response thresholds, and reduced inflammatory cell infiltration and TNF‐α expression.

Effective utilisation of rapid infusion catheters in perioperative care: a narrative review

open access: yesBJA Open
Summary: The Rapid Infusion Catheter (RIC) has transformed intravenous (i.v.) access, allowing for rapid fluid delivery peripherally. It may negate the need for a central vein sheath to be placed.

Upscaling the Fabrication of Rod‐Shaped Microgels: A Microfluidic Method Combining Step‐Emulsification With Consecutive Droplet Confinement in Parallelized Microchannels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A microfluidic method is presented which enables parallelized fabrication of rod‐shaped microgels, based on step‐emulsification (SE) droplet generation and subsequent droplet distribution and confinement, combined in a single device. Microgel rods are fabricated in parallel at different flow rates based on two light‐mediated crosslinking chemistries ...

UCST‐Responsive PMEGA: From Solution Behavior to Functional Hydrogel Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
PMEGA is used as a versatile water‐based UCST‐responsive platform for engineering microstructured hydrogel coatings via a thiol–ene CLAG approach. From PMEGAs of well‐defined UCST properties, the UV‐based CLAG method provides precise control over film thickness, ranging from nanometers to micrometers, and enables high‐resolution patterning.

Arthroscopic Remplissage With Knotless All-Suture Anchors and Concomitant Bankart Repair: Technical Considerations. [PDF]

open access: yesArthrosc Tech
Abstract Anterior shoulder instability is common in active patients. Traumatic dislocations may produce Bankart and Hill‐Sachs lesions that increase recurrence risk. In high‐demand individuals, isolated Bankart repair may be insufficient for off‐track or near‐track Hill‐Sachs lesions.
