Canonical tree-decompositions of finite graphs II. Essential parts [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Comb. Theory B, 2013
In Part I of this series we described three algorithms that construct canonical tree-decompositions of graphs which distinguish all their k-blocks and tangles of order k.

Multi-Linear Population Analysis (MLPA) of LFP Data Using Tensor Decompositions

open access: yesFrontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, 2020
The local field potential (LFP) is the low frequency part of the extracellular electrical potential in the brain and reflects synaptic activity onto thousands of neurons around each recording contact.

Canonical decompositions of symmetric submodular systems

open access: yesDiscrete Applied Mathematics, 1980
Let E be a finite set, R the set of real numbers and f: 2E → R a symmetric submodular function. The pair (E,f) is called a symmetric submodular system.

Decomposition Numbers and Canonical Bases

open access: yesAlgebras and Representation Theory, 2000
We obtain some simple relations between decomposition numbers of quantized Schur algebras at an n-th root of unity (over a field of characteristic 0). These relations imply that every decomposition number for such an algebra occurs as a decomposition number for some Hecke algebra of type A.

A Simultaneous Decomposition for a Quaternion Tensor Quaternity with Applications

open access: yesMathematics
Quaternion tensor decompositions have recently been the center of focus due to their wide potential applications in color data processing. In this paper, we establish a simultaneous decomposition for a quaternion tensor quaternity under Einstein product.

Nonnegative canonical tensor decomposition with linear constraints: nnCANDELINC

open access: yesNumerical Linear Algebra with Applications, 2022
AbstractThere is an emerging interest for tensor factorization applications in big‐data analytics and machine learning. To speed up the factorization of extra‐large datasets, organized in multidimensional arrays (also known as tensors), easy to compute compression‐based tensor representations, such as, Tucker and tensor train formats, are used to ...

Ergodic conditions and spectral properties for A-contractions [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica, 2008
In this paper the canonical representation of an \(A\)-contraction \(T\) on a Hilbert space \(\mathcal{H}\) is used to obtain some conditions concerning the concept of \(A\)-ergodicity studied in [L.

A decompositional framework for process theories in spacetime [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum
There has been a recent surge of interest within the field of quantum foundations regarding incorporating ideas from general relativity and quantum gravity. However, many quantum information tools remain agnostic to the underlying spacetime. For instance,

Canonical decompositions for Poincar duality pairs

open access: yes, 2007
The authors previously described an algebraic analogue of the JSJ-decomposition of a 3-manifold. This analogue is defined for any finitely presented, one-ended group. We study this analogue in the special case of Poincar duality pairs.

A Breakdown of the Black Hole–Bulge Mass Relation in Local Active Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We investigate the relation between black hole (BH) mass and bulge stellar mass for a sample of 117 local ( z ∼ 0) galaxies hosting low-luminosity, broad-line active galactic nuclei (AGNs).
