Population variability and comparative analysis of macroelement concentrations in pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.) Leaves and surrounding soils [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Biological Sciences, 2014
The concentration of macroelements in plant biomass is determined by nutrient uptake from the soil and depends on the spatially variable environmental conditions and nutrition status in the soil.

Interference in Complex Canonical Variables Is Not Quantum

open access: yesQuantum Reports
We formally represent the quantum interference of a single qubit embodied by a photon in the Mach–Zehnder interferometer using the classical Hamiltonian framework but with complex canonical variables. Although all operations on a single qubit can be formally expressed using complex classical Hamiltonian dynamics, we show that the resulting system is ...

Leucine‐rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) is a ganglioside‐binding protein

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neuronal hyperexcitability associated with a decrease/absence of the extracellular protein LGI1 has been suggested to be primarily due to the downregulation of Kv1 channel expression. The molecular mechanisms underlying this decrease have not yet been elucidated.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

REPRESENTATION-CONSTRAINED CANONICAL CORRELATION-ANALYSIS: A HYBRIDIZATION OF CANONICAL CORRELATION AND PRINCIPAL COMPONENT ANALYSIS [PDF]

open access: yes
The classical canonical correlation analysis is extremely greedy to maximize the squared correlation between two sets of variables. As a result, if one of the variables in the dataset-1 is very highly correlated with another variable in the dataset-2 ...
