The Umbrella Type Canopy Increases Tolerance to Abiotic Stress-Leaf Microenvironment Temperature and Tropospheric Ozone in ‘Chambourcin’

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2022
This study reports on the effect of the vertical shoot type canopy (VST) and umbrella type canopy (UT) on the fruit region microenvironment, light interception, tropospheric ozone, and berry quality of vertical trellis ‘Chambourcin’.

A comparison of observed and calculated canopy interception.

open access: yesJournal of Japan Society of Hydrology and Water Resources, 1996

Effects of Shrub Encroachment on Potential Vegetation Interception and Soil Water-Holding Capacity of Grasslands on Loess Plateau

open access: yesShuitu baochi tongbao, 2022
[Objective] Vegetation interception and soil water-holding capacity were analyzed in order to provied a scientific basis for systematically evaluating the soil and water conservation functions of semi-arid shrub-encroached grasslands.

Use of 3D modeling to refine predictions of canopy light utilization: A comparative study on canopy photosynthesis models with different dimensions

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Canopy photosynthesis integrates leaf functional and structural traits in space and time and correlates positively with yield formation. Many models with different levels of architectural details ranging from zero-dimensional (0D) to three-dimensional ...

Analysis and simulation of interception characteristics of broad-leaved forest canopy based on parameter optimization: Dianchi basin case

open access: yesEcological Indicators
The redistribution effect of the canopy precipitation interception is a critical component of the water cycle and water balance in basin ecosystem. However, traditional canopy interception models often fail to fully consider the reasonableness of model ...

Modelling and measurement of two-layer-canopy interception losses in a subtropical evergreen forest of central-south China [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2006
The original Gash analytical model and the sparse Gash's model were combined to simulate rainfall interception losses from the top- and sub-canopy layers in Shaoshan evergreen forest located in central-south China in 2003.

Impact of Forest Canopy Closure on Snow Processes in the Changbai Mountains, Northeast China

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2022
Forest canopy closure affects snow processes by changing the redistribution of snowfall, snow interception, accumulation, sublimation, and melt. However, how the forest closure impacts snow processes at different periods has not been well explored.

Simplified Interception/Evaporation Model

open access: yesHydrology, 2021
It is known that at the event scale, evaporation losses of rainfall intercepted by canopy are a few millimeters, which is often not much in comparison to other stocks in the water balance.

Fitting the revised Gash analytical model of rainfall interception to Mongolian Scots pines in Mu Us Sandy Land, China

open access: yesTrees, Forests and People, 2020
A rainfall interception experiment was completed for Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica plots with stand densities ranging from 925 to 2700 plants ha−1 in Mu Us Sandy Land, China from June to September 2013.

Sweet Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) Canopy Photosynthesis Modeling using 3D Plant Architecture and Light Ray-tracing

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
Canopy photosynthesis has typically been estimated using mathematical models that have the following assumptions: the light interception inside the canopy exponentially declines with the canopy depth, and the photosynthetic capacity is affected by light ...
