Multiclavula ichthyiformis (Fungi: Basidiomycota: Cantharellales: Clavulinaceae), a remarkable new basidiolichen from Costa Rica [PDF]
The new basidiolichen Multiclavula ichthyiformis Nelsen, Lücking, Umaña, Trest & Will‐Wolf is described from Costa Rica. The new species differs from other species of Multiclavula in having a basidiocarp with tomentose stipe and flattened lamina with nonamphigenous hymenium.

Ectomycorrhizal decomposers and their niche(s) in boreal forests
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Ectomycorrhizal fungi that produce oxidative enzymes—ectomycorrhizal decomposers—may limit soil carbon stocks while maintaining forest productivity in nutrient‐poor forest soils by mobilising nitrogen from organic matter.

Biological Flora of Britain and Ireland: Cytisus scoparius*
Broom is an attractive and common native plant across Britain, Ireland and most of Europe, and yet it is considered a harmful and invasive weed around the rest of the world. This is aided by broom thriving on poor dry soils, helped by using green stems for photosynthesis and having root nodules to fix nitrogen.

Review of the biology and management of large patch of warm‐season turfgrasses
Abstract Large patch (Rhizoctonia solani Kühn: anastomosis group [AG] 2‐2) is a destructive disease in warm‐season turfgrasses worldwide, particularly zoysiagrass (Zoysia spp.). Developing as an orange or tan color, the disease starts as small, round patches that can eventually progress to several meters in diameter.

Dryland fungi are spatially heterogeneous and resistant to global change drivers
Abstract Fungi are considered particularly important in regulating the structure and function of dryland ecosystems, yet the response of dryland fungal communities to global change remains notably understudied. Without a clear understanding of how fungi respond to global change drivers, mitigation plans—required for biodiversity and ecosystem service ...
