Polarized microscopic images of the outer bone cortex (a and b) and deeper trabecular bone (c and d) of the deer calcaneus in thin cross‐sections. The brighter gray levels reflect more oblique‐to‐transverse collagen fibers in the compression/dorsal bone (a, c) and the darker gray levels reflect more longitudinal collagen in the tension/plantar bone (b,

Fuzzy optimization of cantilever beam
It happens very often that we want to design a cantilever beam, while all project requirements are not fully known. Namely, we know roughly what the structure should realize. In classical optimization standard procedure should be applied in order to satisfy all the pre-requirements.

Keggin‐type Al‐POM‐coated silica achieves selective surface oxidation of amorphous carbon through electrostatic attraction and proton‐coupled oxidation, tailoring interfacial properties for lithium‐ion batteries and semiconductor processes. ABSTRACT Amorphous carbon is widely used in energy storage and semiconductor technologies, where surface ...

An ionomer‐free anode catalyst layer is fabricated via rapid Joule heating, partially embedding IrO2 nanoparticles into the membrane to form a robust, anchored interface. This architecture eliminates ionomer‐induced poisoning and mass‐transport barriers, enabling efficient water‐mediated proton transport and electronic connectivity.

The correlation of a spectroscopic (EPRI) and microscopic (AFM) technique is demonstrated for a sample of Li deposited on Cu. Areas of different morphology were analysed. The techniques complement each other's length scales as well as the information obtained from the sample.

Through shear–tensile creep tests and viscoelastic modeling, the fracture evolution of thick soft protective layers is clarified. Results show thickness‐dependent rheological failure modes that govern four types of roof water inrush, providing a mechanism‐based framework for hazard prediction and control. Abstract In the Jurassic coal‐bearing strata of
