Forced vibrations of a cantilever beam
European Journal of Physics, 2012The theoretical and experimental solutions for vibrations of a vertical-oriented, prismatic, thin cantilever beam are studied. The beam orientation is 'downwards', i.e. the clamped end is above the free end, and it is subjected to a transverse movement at a selected frequency.

Vibration of a Cracked Cantilever Beam
Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, 1998A continuous cracked bar vibration model is developed for the lateral vibration of a cracked Euler-Bernoulli cantilevered beam with an edge crack. The Hu-Washizu-Barr variational formulation was used to develop the differential equation and the boundary conditions for the cracked beam as an one-dimensional continuum.

Indentation of a cantilever beam or plate
International Journal of Fracture, 1996In this paper the general plane problem for a semi-infinite strip fixed at its short end, containing a crack perpendicular to its voundaries is considered. The strip is under the effect of a stamp. By extending the crack to the surfaces, one can reduce the problem to that of c cantilever beam or plate. Integral transform technique is used to provide an

Spectral determination for a cantilever beam
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1989The eigenvalue specification problem is discussed for a beam with one end clamped and the other end free, which is allowed to have some structural damping, and has a moment force at the free end acting as a control. The spectrum and eigenvectors of the uncontrolled system are first analyzed and are then used to construct the feedback element which ...

Simply supported beams and cantilevers
Chapter 4 examines simply supported beams and cantilevers, emphasizing bending and shear behavior in steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete beams. It begins with classical bending theory and design principles for I-sections, continues with shear stress mechanisms including principal stresses and the strut-and-tie model, and concludes withLeonidas Stavridis +1 more

Cantilever Beam Framing Systems
Engineering Journal, 1999Cantilever beam framing is a multiple-span system of framing which is more efficient than simple beam framing, but simpler to design and erect than continuous beam systems. It involves cantilevering the beam from one span past a support a short distance into the next span, where it supports the end of the next beam using a simple shear connection. This
