The CAP theorem showed that it is impossible for datastore systems to achieve all three of strong consistency, availability and partition tolerance. In this paper we investigate how these trade-offs apply to software-defined networks. Specifically, we investigate network policies such as tenant isolation and middlebox traversal, and prove that it is ...

Whenever oil and gas prices plummet, renewable energy projects tend to hit the skids, because the economic incentive to develop these new technologies simply disappears. Low prices bring on the Hummers; high prices have consumers clamoring for Toyota Priuses.

How good to read in your Diary column that Nurse Managers are at last listening to nurses. I refer to the Hartlepool decision to restore the use of nurses' caps. We younger nurses not only want a challenging i research-based profession respected by our colleagues, but we also want to keep the traditional aspects of nursing. To most of us that tradition

Cap Unmasking, Cap Tuning and Cap Thresholds in Humans
1983In revealing analytical properties of the human cochlea tuning and two-tone suppression phenomena play an important role. In the compound action potential (CAP) tuning and suppression can be demonstrated by the use of two-tone masking and three-tone (un)masking paradigms respectively (Eggermont, 1977; Harrison et al., 1981, Harris, 1979).

AbstractCapped subporphyrins 12–16 with C3 molecular symmetry were synthesized from 5,10,15‐tri(3‐aminophenyl)‐substituted subporphyrin 8 and tripodal trialdehydes 2–6 by Lindsey’s entropically favored macrocyclization. X‐ray diffraction analysis has revealed that the concave surface of the subporphyrin core is selectively capped with a 1,3,5 ...

Nonspecific thickening of the apical visceral pleura and subpleural lung associated with fibrosis and sometimes with calcification, was found in 20.3% of cases. This thickening could not be shown histologically to be the result of tuberculosis. The frequency of such scarring increased significantly with age.

Patients with catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) have in common: a) clinical evidence of multiple organ involvement developing over a very short period of time; b) histopathological evidence of multiple small vessel occlusions, and c) laboratory confirmation of the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL), usually in high titre. Although

There's nothing like nurses' caps to stir up strong opinions. We've just heard about a surgeon who's been running a one man campaign against naughty nurses who allow straying strands of hair to escape from underneath their theatre caps. But their revenge was very sweet.
