Nonparametric Capability Indices
Economic Quality Control, 2003Summary: The process capability indices \(C_{p}\) and \(C_{pk}\) are widely used in statistical quality control to assess the capability of a process. These indices are defined, based on the assumption that the quality characteristic follows a normal distribution.

Robust process capability indices
Omega, 1998Many organizations are mandating the use of process capability indices to measure and reduce variability. Managers may find the use of such indices as unreliable when the interaction of the dependency structure and outliers mask potential assignable causes of variation.

A process capability indicator
Total Quality Management, 1993A new measure of process capability, called process capability indicator and denoted by C1is proposed. It is of the form C1=deviation indicator (DI)+w×variation indicator (VI), where DI and VI, are, respectively, measures of the deviation of the process mean from the target value and the process variation, and both are relative to the tolerance.

Monitoring capability indices using run rules
Journal of Quality in Maintenance Engineering, 2009PurposeThe purpose of this paper is propose a methodology for monitoring industrial processes that cannot be stabilized, but are nevertheless capable.Design/methodology/approachThe proposed procedure uses the CP(u,v) family of capability indices proposed by Vännman (including the indices CPK, CPM, CPMK) combined with one‐sided two‐out‐of‐three and ...

Probability-Based Process Capability Indices
Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 2009This article deals with alternative process capability indices (PCIs) to traditional basic PCIs C p , C pk , and C pm based on different fraction conforming type of probabilities. In view of various problems of constructing capability indices for univariate as well as multivariate set up, these alternative PCIs are very useful as compared to C p , C pk

Confidence Bounds for Capability Indices
Journal of Quality Technology, 1992Capability indices compare the actual performance of a manufacturing process to the desired performance. In practice these indices are estimated using sample data, often with quite small sample sizes. Thus, it is of interest to obtain confidence limits ..

The capability indices Cp, CPU, CPL, k and Cpk are presented and related to process parameters. These indices are shown to form a complementary system of measures of process performance, and can be used with bilateral and unilateral tolerances, with or ..

Dynamic Process Capability Indices
Asian Journal on Quality, 2002Process capability indices as an important kind of indices are intended to provide single‐number assessments of the inherent process capability to meet specification limits on quality characteristic(s) of interest. In this paper the condition for the application of process capability indices is analyzed.
