Cavallo's Multiplier for in situ Generation of High Voltage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A classic electrostatic induction machine, Cavallo's multiplier, is suggested for in situ production of very high voltage in cryogenic environments. The device is suitable for generating a large electrostatic field under conditions of very small load ...

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Parasitic Capacitances in Magnetic Components: Overview and Perspectives

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics
Parasitic capacitances are important in magnetic components, especially for the high-frequency power electronic converters enabled by wide-bandgap semiconductors.

Small-signal model for 2D-material based field-effect transistors targeting radio-frequency applications: the importance of considering non-reciprocal capacitances

open access: yes, 2017
A small-signal equivalent circuit of 2D-material based field-effect transistors is presented. Charge conservation and non-reciprocal capacitances have been assumed so the model can be used to make reliable predictions at both device and circuit levels ...

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

A nonvolatile analog programmable voltage source using the VIPMOS EEPROM structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A programmable voltage source using the vertical injection punchthrough based MOS (VIPMOS) EEPROM structure is presented. The circuit operates at a single 5-V supply and the output voltage is continuously available even during programming.

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Evaluation of a gate capacitance in the sub-aF range for a chemical field-effect transistor with a silicon nanowire channel

open access: yes, 2011
An evaluation of the gate capacitance of a field-effect transitor (FET) whose channel length and width are several ten nanometer, is a key point for sensors applications. However, experimental and precise evaluation of capacitance in the aF range or less

Improved transient simulation of salient-pole synchronous generators with internal and ground faults in the stator winding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
An improved model for simulating the transient behavior of salient-pole synchronous generators with internal and ground faults in the stator winding is established using the multi-loop circuit method.

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...
