Forearm Motion Recognition With Noncontact Capacitive Sensing. [PDF]

TheraProx: Capacitive Proximity Sensing [PDF]
This paper presents the development of a novel contactless omnidirectional capacitive proximity sensor. The presented device has been designed to be energy-efficient (≈5 mW power consumption) by means of duty-cycling the power supply. A comprehensive methodological experiment has been carried out to extensively evaluate the performance within the ...

Capacitive Temperature Sensing via Displacement Amplification
We propose the realization of capacitive temperature sensors based on the concept of displacement amplification. Our design features two high coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) metallic layers separated by a low-CTE dielectric layer; conductive and dielectric layers are then separated by a thin air gap and glued together at a few locations.

Capacitive sensing for measuring detonations [PDF]
Novel sensors have been developed to measure the time resolved position and thickness of the conducting zone of detonation waves in columns of explosive. The sensors employ the phenomenon of capacitive coupling to distinguish between the reaction zone, unreacted explosive and reaction products based on the change in conductivity. An electrode is driven
