A novel capacitor placement strategy in ASCCOT: automatic layouter for switched capacitor circuits
1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002A novel strategy of capacitor placement for the layout of switched capacitor circuits is presented. An optimum placement of capacitors under the assumption of a first-order capacitance perturbation model is proposed. This can minimize the degradation of system transfer function with respect to the capacitance perturbation in a chip. >

Fuzzy optimal capacitor sizing and placement
Proceedings 1995 Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2002The installation of power capacitors in distribution systems yields numerous economical benefits and improvements in system performance. There are many algorithms to determine the optimal capacitor sizes and their placement in distribution systems. All of these methods require data, which may be uncertain in nature, to generate an acceptable solution ...

Optimal capacitor placement in distribution networks
Electric Power Systems Research, 1996Abstract This paper deals with the voltage stability problem associated with radial distribution networks. Two load models are studied: the full load flow model (FLFM) and the equivalent generic single-line model (EGSLM). Optimization is then carried out to find the optimal capacitor size that minimizes some costing function, and finally several ...

Capacitor Placement for Conservative Voltage Reduction on Distribution Feeders
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2004This paper proposes a strategy for placing capacitors at multiple locations on a distribution feeder to allow: 1) deeper levels of substation voltage reduction for peak load reduction; 2) power factor correction; and 3) power loss reduction. By reducing peak demand, a utility can avoid paying high prices when purchasing power or it may sell excess ...

A Heuristic Constructive Algorithm for Capacitor Placement on Distribution Systems
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2008This paper presents a heuristic constructive algorithm (HCA) for optimal capacitor placement on distribution systems. This is a nonlinear mixed integer optimization problem. In the proposed approach, the integer variables are represented using sigmoid function, thus interior point optimal power flow formulation can be applied to obtain sensitivity ...

Yield evaluation of analog placement with arbitrary capacitor ratio
2009 10th International Symposium on Quality Electronic Design, 2009Capacitance mismatch can be generally attributed two sources of errors: random mismatch and systematic mismatch. Random mismatch is caused by the process variation, while systematic mismatch is mainly due to asymmetrical layout and processing gradients. Common centroid structure may reduce the systematic mismatch, but not the random mismatch.

FELM based intelligent optimal switching capacitor placement
2011 Eighth International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD), 2011Minimizing the total active power loss and voltage drop are the two important challenges for power transmission and distribution in an unbalanced power flow problem for any power distribution system. This can be achieved by installing the proper sized switching capacitor at proper place in a power distribution system.

Optimal capacitor placement in low voltage distribution grid
2019 XXVII International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT), 2019Infrastructure of a distribution systems is facing major challenges with deregulated power system. Reactive power compensation can reduce energy losses in system, improve voltage profile and release feeder capacity. Installation of capacitors in distribution network is ensuring more efficient systems, but also provides economic benefit to utility and ...

Reconfiguration and optimal capacitor placement for losses reduction
2012 Sixth IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution: Latin America Conference and Exposition (T&D-LA), 2012This paper presents a deterministic approach for network reconfiguration and a heuristic technique for optimal capacitor placement for power-loss reduction and voltage profile improvement in distribution networks. Related to the reconfiguration, a Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) algorithm is utilized to determine the configuration of minimum losses.

Optimal capacitor placement for improving power quality
199 IEEE Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.99CH36364), 2003In this paper, the optimal capacitor placement problem is studied. Traditionally, the solution to this problem aimed to minimize the system losses and capacitor costs. This study also accounts for the voltage harmonic distortion brought about by the placement of capacitors. A current injection based model is used for representing the network, operating
