On the capacity region of asynchronous channels

2008 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2008
We consider asynchronous communication over discrete memoryless channels. The transmitter starts sending one block codeword of length N at an instant that is uniformly distributed within a certain time period A, which represents the level of asynchronism between the transmitter and the receiver.

The organising capacity of metropolitan region

Environment and Planning C: Government and Policy, 1997
Fundamental developments such as globalisation, informationalisation, and European integration lead to increased competition and interaction among metropolitan regions in search for mobile investment and trade. Next to the 'traditional' location factors and quality-of-life factors that determine the quality of the business environment, the ability of ...

Capacity region of the permutation channel

2008 46th Annual Allerton Conference on Communication, Control, and Computing, 2008
We discuss the capacity region of a degraded broadcast channel (DBC) formed from a channel that randomly permutes input packets by selecting a permutation according to a probability distribution. Starting from the known capacity region expression for the DBC, we give an explicit outer and inner bound to the capacity region which are shown to be equal ...

A “Three‐Region” Configuration for Enhanced Electrochemical Kinetics and High‐Areal Capacity Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

Advanced Functional Materials, 2022
A main hurdle for the commercial application of lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries lies in inadequate loading of sulfur due to a huge volume change over charging–discharging, poor electric conductivity of sulfur and associated sulfides, and the shuttling ...

A study of the routing capacity regions of networks

2008 42nd Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2008
The routing capacity region of networks with multiple unicast sessions can be characterized using Farkas' lemma as an infinite set of linear inequalities. In this paper this result is sharpened by exploiting properties of the solution satisfied by each rate-tuple on the boundary of the capacity region, and a finite description of the routing capacity ...

Capacity Region of ALOHA Protocol for Heterogeneous IoT Networks

IEEE Internet of Things Journal, 2019
In an Internet of Things (IoT) network, heterogeneous users with different priorities and service requirements will co-exist. This makes scheduling access to the shared communication medium a major challenge.

Dendrite-Free Zinc-Based Battery with High Areal Capacity via the Region-Induced Deposition Effect of Turing Membrane.

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2021
Zinc-based batteries are promising for use as energy storage devices owing to their low cost and high energy density. However, zinc chemistry commonly encounters serious dendrite issues, especially at high areal capacities and current densities, limiting

On capacity regions of non-multicast networks

2010 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2010
We study the network coding capacity of multi-source, multi-sink networks with colocated sources, but where each sink may demand a different subset of the sources. We show that in this scenario, the set of admissible (zero probability of decoding errors) and achievable (vanishing probability of decoding errors) rate capacity tuples are the same.

On the capacity region of the degraded Z channel

2010 IEEE Information Theory Workshop, 2010
In this paper, we consider the two-user Z Channel (ZC). There are two senders and two receivers in the model. One of the senders transmits information to its intended receiver, while the other sender transmits information to both receivers. We establish a new achievable rate region for the ZC, using Marton's binning technique.

Heat Capacities in Critical Regions

Pure and Applied Chemistry, 1976
In this paper available heat capacity results in the liquid-gas, and the magnetically critical regions are referenced and discussed. Emphasis is placed on cases where critical exponents have been evaluated and they are compared with theoretical predictions.
