Value of lung diffusing capacity for nitric oxide in systemic sclerosis
A decreased lung diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide (DLCO) in systemic sclerosis (SSc) is considered to reflect losses of alveolar membrane diffusive conductance for CO (DMCO), due to interstitial lung disease, and/or pulmonary capillary blood volume

The capacity associated to signed Riesz kernels, and Wolff potentials [PDF]
There is a natural capacity associated to any vector valued Riesz kernel of a given homogeneity. If we are in the plane and the kernel is the Cauchy kernel, then this capacity is analytic capacity. Our main result states that if the homogeneity of the kernel is negative and larger than minus one, then the capacity is comparable to one of the well ...

Electromagnetic channel capacity for practical purposes [PDF]
We give analytic upper bounds to the channel capacity C for transmission of classical information in electromagnetic channels (bosonic channels with thermal noise).

Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

Theory of spike timing based neural classifiers
We study the computational capacity of a model neuron, the Tempotron, which classifies sequences of spikes by linear-threshold operations. We use statistical mechanics and extreme value theory to derive the capacity of the system in random classification

Assessing financial and flexibility incentives for integrating wind energy in the grid via agent-based modeling [PDF]
This article provides an agent-based model of a hypothetical standalone electricity network to identify how the feed-in tariffs and the installed capacity of wind power, calculated in percentage of total system demand, affect the electricity consumption ...

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.

Autophagy in cancer and protein conformational disorders
Autophagy plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including protein and organelle quality control, development, immunity, and metabolism. Hence, dysregulation or mutations in autophagy‐related genes have been implicated in a wide range of human diseases.
