Eutectic Gallium‐Indium as a Potential Non‐Toxic Replacement in Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A practical alternative to mercury intrusion porosimetry is presented using non‐oxidized eutectic gallium‐indium. An eGaIn Filling Station enables oxygen‐free preparation of standard penetrometers, and the resulting measurements faithfully reproduce pore‐size distributions and intrusion volumes measured with mercury across several standard reference ...

At Home Detection of Ovarian Health Biomarker in Menstruation Blood

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A lateral flow assay enables the detection of anti‐Müllerian hormone directly in unprocessed menstrual blood using silica‐gold nanoshells and smartphone‐assisted machine learning analysis. The platform supports decentralized, user‐operated testing in wearable and dipstick formats, highlighting the potential of menstrual blood as a non‐invasive matrix ...

Capillarity at the nanoscale

Chemical Society Reviews, 2010
In this critical review we treat the phenomenon of capillarity in nanoscopic confinement, based on application of the Young-Laplace equation. In classical capillarity the curvature of the meniscus is determined by the confining geometry and the macroscopic contact angle.

Pulmonary capillaritis

Current Opinion in Pulmonary Medicine, 2000
Vasculitis, inflammation, and necrosis of blood vessels can involve any size or type of vessel in the pulmonary vasculature, including the capillaries, so-called capillaritis. Although pulmonary capillaritis is a histopathologic diagnosis that is not pathognomonic of a specific disorder, it usually signals the presence of an underlying systemic ...
