Optical fiber nanoprobe preparation for near-field optical microscopy by chemical etching under surface tension and capillary action

open access: goldOptics Express, 2009
We propose a technique of chemical etching for fabrication of near perfect optical fiber nanoprobe (NNP). It uses photosensitive single mode optical fiber to etch in hydro fluoric (HF) acid solution.

The effect of liquid supply due to capillary action on a critical heat flux enhancement using a honeycomb porous plate in a saturated pool boiling

open access: bronzeNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2016
Pool boiling is used for cooling in numerous thermal energy dissipation systems because of its high heat flux removal capacity. However, the heat removal in a pool boiling is limited by the occurrence of critical heat flux conditions (CHF), the primary ...

High-speed NMR imaging of capillary action in thin nontransparent porous media.

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2021
An improved high-speed NMR profiling method is introduced that enables us to measure capillary action in thin, nontransparent porous media. Liquid profiles can be measured as fast as 10 ms with a spatial resolution of 14.5μm.

Oil displacement in capillary tubes using viscoelastic fluids [PDF]

open access: yesINCAS Bulletin, 2023
Capillary invasion of liquid is a spontaneous phenomenon that occurs at length scales smaller than the capillary length. By means of capillary action, numerous applications have been developed.

Process of liquid supply to heated surface by a honeycomb porous plate for critical heat flux enhancement

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2021
Various surface modifications controlling wettability and wickability have effectively enhanced the critical heat flux (CHF) in saturated pool boiling. Among them, this paper focuses on the CHF enhancement using a honeycomb porous plate (HPP).
