Wetting of anisotropic sinusoidal surfaces - experimental and numerical study of directional spreading [PDF]
Directional wettability, i.e. variation of wetting properties depending on the surface orientation, can be achieved by anisotropic surface texturing. A new high precision process can produce homogeneous sinusoidal surfaces (in particular parallel grooves)

Effect of Capillarity in Unsaturated Silty Clay on Electrochemical Corrosion Behavior of X70 Steel
Purposes It is important to explore the law of capillary action on the corrosion of X70 steel in soil. Methods On the basis of the theory of unsaturated soil and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, combined with polarization curve technology ...

Contact angles on a soft solid: from Young's law to Neumann's law [PDF]
The contact angle that a liquid drop makes on a soft substrate does not obey the classical Young's relation, since the solid is deformed elastically by the action of the capillary forces. The finite elasticity of the solid also renders the contact angles

ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment and exercise intolerance are common in dialysis patients. Cerebral perfusion and oxygenation play a major role in both cognitive function and exercise execution; HD session per se aggravates cerebral ischemia in this population. This study aimed to compare cerebral oxygenation and perfusion at rest and in mild

Hemorrhage Caused by Snake Venom Metalloproteinases: A Journey of Discovery and Understanding
The historical development of discoveries and conceptual frames for understanding the hemorrhagic activity induced by viperid snake venoms and by hemorrhagic metalloproteinases (SVMPs) present in these venoms is reviewed. Histological and ultrastructural

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.
