Pulmonary capillary pressure and permeability
Critical Care Medicine, 1979An appreciation of the "state of the art" of pulmonary capillary pressure and permeability must necessarily form an important part of the basis of a rational choice of fluid therapy. The present state of the understanding of pulmonary transcapillary fluid exchange is developed. Laboratory data are used in conjunction with clinical evidence to construct

Effect of capillary pressure and lung distension on capillary recruitment
Journal of Applied Physiology, 1995To investigate the effect of capillary pressure and alveolar distension on capillary recruitment, we used video-microscopy to quantify capillary recruitment in individual subpleural alveolar walls. Canine lobes were perfused with autologous blood either while inflated by positive airway pressure or while inflated by negative intrapleural pressure in ...

Capillary Pressure Drainage Curves: Modelling and Prediction of Capillary Entry Pressure
SPE/IATMI Asia Pacific Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition, 2017Abstract Capillary pressure (CP) measurements on core samples generally deploy one of three tests: porous plate (PP), centrifuge (CF) and mercury injection (MI). The first two mentioned tests are most often used to directly determine a CP relationship and the PP procedure most closely conforms to reservoir situations. CF test results may

Capillary pressure in softwoods
Wood Science and Technology, 1981To predict the capillary transport of free liquid during the drying of softwood, it is essential to have knowledge of capillary pressure as a function of moisture content. The dependence of the capillary pressure on the wood's moisture content is predicted with a mechanistic model and measured for isothermal moisture movement in the tangetial direction.

Macroscopic capillary pressure
Transport in Porous Media, 1995The macroscopic pressure difference between two immiscible, incompressible fluid phases flowing through homogeneous porous media is considered. Starting with the quasi-static motions of two compressible fluids, with zero surface tension, it is possible to construct a complete system of equations in which all parameters are clearly defined by physical ...

Glomerular capillary pressure and hypertension
American Heart Journal, 1991In patients with essential hypertension, glomerular filtration rate remains normal or elevated, whereas renal blood flow tends to be lower, which results in an increased filtration fraction. The afferent (preglomerular) arteriolar resistance determines the fraction of the pressure that is transmitted to the glomerular capillary network, whereas the ...

A Capillary Pressure Disturbance in Young Diabetics
Diabetes, 1980Finger nailfold capillary pressure (CP) was determined by direct microinjection technique in nine insulin-dependent male diabetic and nine matched control subjects. Mean CP, recorded under resting conditions after acclimatization in a constant temperature room at 24°C, was similar in all parts of the capillary loop in the two groups.

Capillary Pressure Investigations
Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1951Abstract This paper presents results of static capillary pressure measurements madeboth by the restored-state and by the mercury-injection methods, and of dynamiccapillary pressure measurements made by the Hassler technique.
