ChicGrasp: Imitation‐Learning‐Based Customized Dual‐Jaw Gripper Control for Manipulation of Delicate, Irregular Bio‐Products

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Automated poultry processing lines still rely on humans to lift slippery, easily bruised carcasses onto a shackle conveyor. Deformability, anatomical variance, and hygiene rules make conventional suction and scripted motions unreliable. We present ChicGrasp, an end‐to‐end hardware‐software co‐designed imitation learning framework, to offer a ...

Liquid Crystalline Elastomers in Soft Robotics: Assessing Promise and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Liquid crystalline elastomers (LCEs) are programmable soft materials that undergo large, anisotropic deformation in response to external stimuli. Their molecular alignment encodes directional actuation in a monolithic structure, making them long‐standing candidates for soft robotic systems.

Techno‐Economic Analysis of Polylactic Acid from Corn Stover: Understanding Uncertainty and Variability via Artificial Intelligence Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This study analyses the uncertainty and variability existing in the economic performance of polylactic acid (PLA) production, via integrating techno‐economic analysis with process models and Monte Carlo simulation enabled by artificial intelligence. The results show that the minimum selling price varies from $2,107 to $3076/t PLA.

Circular RNA PTPN4 Contributes to Blood‐Brain Barrier Disruption during Early Epileptogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Epileptic condition induces CircPTPN4 upregulation, which promotes ECE‐1 expression through competitive sequestration of miR‐145a‐5p. The elevated ECE‐1 catalyzes the ET‐1 production, leading to p38/MAPK pathway activation and subsequent downregulation of tight junction protein expression. This cascade results in increased BBB permeability and enhanced

Single‐Cell RNA Sequencing of Human Lung Tissues Reveals Metallothionein‐Positive T Cells as a Novel Potential Marker of Susceptibility to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using single‐cell RNA sequencing of lung samples and flow cytometry of peripheral blood, we identified a novel T cell subset with high metallothionein (MT) expression. These MT‐high T cells suppress CD8+ T cell cytotoxicity and are progressively depleted from healthy controls to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients, positioning them as

Nuclear Factor I‐B Delays Liver Fibrosis by Inhibiting Chemokine Ligand 5 Transcription

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the transcription factor Nuclear Factor I‐B (NFIB) as a key suppressor of liver fibrosis. NFIB expression declines during hepatic stellate cell activation, and its overexpression reduces fibrosis in mice models. The mechanism involves NFIB directly repressing chemokine C─C motif ligand 5 (CCL5), thereby alleviating oxidative ...

Navigating the Ethereal Tightrope: The Nanogenerator Manipulates Neurons for Immune Equilibrium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores how nanogenerators modulate neuroimmune responses, offering innovative strategies for treating neurological disorders. By interfacing with neural pathways, they enable precise control of immune activity, especially via vagus nerve stimulation.

Increased Blood Flow and Tendon Swelling Precedes Vascular Expansion and Tissue Matrix Changes In Early Human Tendinopathy: A Potential Window for Superior Treatment Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Human participants with early‐ or chronic‐stage tendinopathy and healthy controls are investigated using ultrasound Doppler, 3T and 7T MRI, and tendon biopsies. Tendon swelling and hyperperfusion are evident early, while vascular growth and extracellular matrix changes are most pronounced in chronic tendinopathy. Early intervention may provide superior

A Natural Sweetener‐inducible Genetic Switch Controls Therapeutic Protein Expression in Mammals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a natural sweetener, the psicose‐inducible transgene expression (PURE) system based on an Agrobacterium tumefaciens–derived transcriptional repressor PsiR. The PURE system is highly specific to psicose, being insensitive to other sugars and structurally similar molecules.

Mutual Exclusion Analysis Shows that DUSP9 Negatively Regulates PD‐L1 Expression and Acts as a Target to Enhance Anti‐PD‐1 Efficacy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A mutually exclusive screening system is established to identify negative regulators of highly plastic genes. Dual specificity phosphatase (DUSP9) is a novel negative regulatory molecule of PD‐L1 by dephosphorylating STAT3, and acts as a target molecule in combination with PD‐1 antibody for tumor immunotherapy and a new clinical biomarker for ...
