Phenotypic correlates of genetic divergence suggest at least three species in the complex of Dianthus virgineus (Caryophyllaceae)

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 72, Issue 5, Page 1019-1033, October 2023., 2023
Abstract Dianthus virgineus encompasses a very complex taxonomic group (traditionally called D. sylvestris group) including an array of units of doubtful taxonomic rank and value. Recent work identified three genetic lineages within this complex that showed strong genetic isolation, and clear geographical boundaries (i.e., “Alpine”, “Balkan”, and ...

Univariate and multivariate genome‐wide association studies for hematological traits in Murciano‐Granadina goats

open access: yesAnimal Genetics, Volume 54, Issue 4, Page 491-499, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Hematological traits are important indicators of health status, and they are frequently used as criteria for clinical diagnosis. In humans, the genomic architecture of blood traits has been investigated in depth and thousands of associations with genetic variants have been found.

Survival analysis of productive life in Florida dairy goats using a Cox proportional hazards model

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Volume 140, Issue 4, Page 431-439, July 2023., 2023
Abstract Longevity is an economically important trait, since extending the functional life of a doe would allow us to keep the most productive females in the herd as long as possible, and this could result in the increased profitability of dairy farms.

Principal component analysis for evaluating a ranking method used in the performance testing in sheep of Morada Nova breed

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2015
A multivariate approach was adopted to evaluate the relationship among traits measured in the performance testing of Morada Nova sheep, verify the efficiency of a ranking method used in these tests and identify the most significant traits for use in ...

Selênio para caprinos e ovinos:Revisão [PDF]

open access: yesPubvet, 2018
Nutrition demands the higher cost of production of goats and sheep and because of this reason, greater profitability can be achieved in the details. Where each nutrient has its importance, and some of them are highlighted differently, is the case of selenium. Within animal physiology, selenium is multifunctional and essential for the normal functioning

Theorizing the persistence of local–foreign inequality in international development organizations through the analytic of coloniality

open access: yesGender, Work &Organization, Volume 30, Issue 2, Page 529-546, March 2023., 2023
Abstract This paper theorizes the persistence of inequality between “local” and “foreign” staff in international development organizations. This is a perplexing phenomenon given these organizations' aims of equality and improving lives. The paper draws on qualitative empirical material generated over a three‐month period at an American‐founded ...

Detecting the footprint of selection on the genomes of Murciano‐Granadina goats

open access: yesAnimal Genetics, Volume 52, Issue 5, Page 683-693, October 2021., 2021
Summary Artificial selection is one of the major forces modifying the genetic composition of livestock populations. Identifying genes under selection could be useful to elucidate their impact on phenotypic variation. We aimed to identify genomic regions targeted by selection for dairy and pigmentation traits in Murciano‐Granadina goats.
