Balance of Emission and Dynamical Controls on Ozone During the Korea‐United States Air Quality Campaign From Multiconstituent Satellite Data Assimilation

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 124, Issue 1, Page 387-413, 16 January 2019., 2019
Abstract Global multiconstituent concentration and emission fields obtained from the assimilation of the satellite retrievals of ozone, CO, NO2, HNO3, and SO2 from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI), Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment 2, Measurements of Pollution in the Troposphere, Microwave Limb Sounder, and Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS)/OMI

Estimation of Ammonia Emission Inventory Using Life Cycle Assessment Based on Livestock Manure Flow: A Case Study of the Manure Management Sector in Korea

open access: yesAtmosphere
Ammonia is one of the precursor gases in the formation of particulate matter (PM) that reacts with nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides in the atmosphere. Based on the Clean Air Policy Support System (CAPSS) of Korea, the annual ammonia emissions amounted ...

UFMylation of NLRP3 Prevents Its Autophagic Degradation and Facilitates Inflammasome Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 15, April 17, 2025.
This article studies the role of UFMylation in NLRP3 inflammasome activation. It reveals that UFMylation, mediated by the E3 Ufm1‐ligase 1 (Ufl1), maintains NLRP3 stability by preventing its ubiquitination and subsequent autophagic degradation.

Astigmatism Associated with Allergic Conjunctivitis in Urban School Children

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
Introduction. We first examined the association of an ocular refractive error with allergic conjunctivitis in school children and then examined this association in children attending a suburban school and an urban school. Methods. We enrolled 426 children attending a primary school in a suburban area and 550 children attending a primary school in an ...

Fluorescence-based CAPS Multiplex Genotyping on Capillary Electrophoresis Systems

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2015
Recent advances in next-generation sequencing techniques allow the detection of a large number of SNPs and their use in a high throughput manner. However, Cleaved Amplified Polymorphic Sequences (CAPSs) still play a significant role as complement to ...

A comparison study between CMAQ-simulated and OMI-retrieved NO2 columns over East Asia for evaluation of NOx emission fluxes of INTEX-B, CAPSS, and REAS inventories [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2015
Comparison between the CMAQ (Community Multi-scale Air Quality Model)-calculated and OMI (Ozone Monitoring Instrument)-retrieved tropospheric NO2 columns was carried out for 2006 over East Asia (100–150° E; 20–50° N) to evaluate the bottom-up NOx ...

Adipokines as Drug Targets in Diabetes and Underlying Disturbances

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Research, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Diabetes and obesity are worldwide health problems. White fat dynamically participates in hormonal and inflammatory regulation. White adipose tissue is recognized as a multifactorial organ that secretes several adipose‐derived factors that have been collectively termed “adipokines.” Adipokines are pleiotropic molecules that gather factors such as ...

Intercomparison of NOx emission inventories over East Asia [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2017
We compare nine emission inventories of nitrogen oxides including four satellite-derived NOx inventories and the following bottom-up inventories for East Asia: REAS (Regional Emission inventory in ASia), MEIC (Multi-resolution Emission Inventory for ...

Bridging Breeding and Biotechnology for Tomato Resilience in Semi‐Arid Regions

open access: yesAdvances in Agriculture, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Tomatoes are global crops, valued for their nutritional content and economic importance. It is vital to grow resilient tomato varieties that meet environmental challenges and consumer expectations to meet tomato demand. Semi‐arid areas expand due to climate change, yet they are becoming significant for food growth due to the growing population, which ...
