Comparison of Hyaluronic Acid Biosynthetic Genes From Different Strains of

open access: yesBioinformatics and Biology Insights, 2021
Pasteurella multocida produces a capsule composed of different polysaccharides according to the capsular serotype (A, B, D, E, and F). Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a component of certain capsular types of this bacterium, especially capsular type A. Previously,

The value of multi-phase CT based intratumor and peritumoral radiomics models for evaluating capsular characteristics of parotid pleomorphic adenoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
ObjectivesComputed tomography (CT) imaging of parotid pleomorphic adenoma (PA) has been widely reported, nonetheless few reports have estimated the capsule characteristics of PA at length.

Effect of propranolol on capsular reaction around silicone implants in guinea pigs [PDF]

open access: yesActa Cirúrgica Brasileira, 2015
PURPOSE: To evaluate the effect of propranolol on capsular architecture around silicone implants by measuring the inflammation, capsular thickness, and collagen fiber density, using a guinea pig experimental model.METHODS:Thirty six adult male guinea ...

What is the optimal surgical intervention for patients with frozen shoulder and a concomitant partial-thickness rotator cuff tear?

open access: yesJSES International, 2021
Background: Patients with recalcitrant frozen shoulder traditionally undergo arthroscopic capsular release. Some patients may have a concomitant partial-thickness rotator cuff tear (PTT).

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Repair of a Proximal Hip Capsular Avulsion in Revision Hip Arthroscopy

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques
Revision hip arthroscopy is challenging from a diagnostic and technical perspective and has been repeatedly shown to have inferior outcomes when compared to primary hip arthroscopy.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Dead bag syndrome—in the capsular bag subluxated intraocular lens centration and refixation: A new technique

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2023
We describe a technique of scleral IOL fixation and optic centration of in the capsular bag subluxated IOL in a patient of “dead bag syndrome.” A 29-year-old male diagnosed case of thalassemia presented with painless progressive diminution of vision in ...
