A Reassessment of the Clinical Utility of 68Ga‐DOTATATE PET/CT in Patients With Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP‐NETs) are a rare and biologically diverse group of tumors that are challenging to image. 68Ga‐DOTATATE PET/CT is the most sensitive imaging tool for these tumors, and while its use has increased over time, its clinical impact remains unclear, particularly for clinical scenarios ...

The diagnostic yield of pan‐enteric capsule endoscopy in inflammatory bowel disease: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesJournal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Volume 37, Issue 12, Page 2207-2216, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background and Aim Capsule endoscopy (CE) is a non‐invasive diagnostic modality enabling real time video imaging of the gastrointestinal (GI) mucosa. Pan‐enteric capsule endoscopy (PCE) is now able to thoroughly assess the entire GI tract, including for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Multicentre Study of 10,369 Symptomatic Patients Comparing the Diagnostic Accuracy of Colon Capsule Endoscopy, Colonoscopy and CT Colonography. [PDF]

open access: yesAliment Pharmacol Ther
This large, multi‐site English study, with matched and comparative colonoscopy and CT colonography arms, confirms that CCE is a safe and accurate diagnostic of colorectal disease in the setting of suspected colorectal cancer, unlikely to miss significant disease and usefully to act as a filter test. ABSTRACT Background During the COVID‐19 pandemic, NHS

Multi-Class Abnormality Classification Task in Video Capsule Endoscopy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this work for Capsule Vision Challenge 2024, we addressed the challenge of multiclass anomaly classification in video capsule Endoscopy (VCE)[1] with a variety of deep learning models, ranging from custom CNNs to advanced transformer architectures.

Magnetically Guided Capsule Endoscopy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
The following research undertakes a historical review of this technology with specific highlighting of its advancement in medical diagnostics as well as the therapeutic functionality of wireless capsule endoscopy. Without restriction to the gastrointestinal tract alone, the review will additionally investigate the developments in the technology of ...

Capsule Endoscopy Multi-classification via Gated Attention and Wavelet Transformations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Abnormalities in the gastrointestinal tract significantly influence the patient's health and require a timely diagnosis for effective treatment. With such consideration, an effective automatic classification of these abnormalities from a video capsule endoscopy (VCE) frame is crucial for improvement in diagnostic workflows.

Feasibility of Laryngeal Joint Replacement: A Proof of Concept Study in Cadavers

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Treatment in advanced cases of posterior laryngeal stenosis relies on permanent tracheostomy or irreversible arytenoidectomy/cordectomy, which are compromises between voice, swallowing, and airway. While having intact laryngeal neuromuscular function, there is immobility of the vocal cord due to scarring and ankylosis of the cricoarytenoid joint.

Enhanced Anomaly Detection for Capsule Endoscopy Using Ensemble Learning Strategies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Capsule endoscopy is a method to capture images of the gastrointestinal tract and screen for diseases which might remain hidden if investigated with standard endoscopes. Due to the limited size of a video capsule, embedding AI models directly into the capsule demands careful consideration of the model size and thus complicates anomaly detection in this

Cytological Alterations of Benign Thyroid Nodules Following Radiofrequency Ablation

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This prospective study of 312 patients with benign thyroid nodules treated with radiofrequency ablation showed a 3.84% progression to Bethesda III cytology, all confirmed benign by molecular testing, with an 88% volume reduction at 60 months and no major complications.
