We report a new methodology for producing monometallic or bimetallic nanoparticles confined within hollow nitrogen-doped porous carbon capsules. The capsules are derived from metal-organic framework (MOF) crystals that are coated with a shell of a ...

Orthopedic Clinics of North America, 1987
The signs and symptoms of adhesive capsulitis are reviewed. It is clear that this is a specific disease process distinct from those cases of "frozen shoulder." Four specific stages of the disease have been visualized at arthroscopy prior to manipulation. Stage 1 of adhesive capsulitis mimics the impingement syndrome of the shoulder.

Chemical Reviews, 2009
An overview of the wide range of polymer-based capsules that have been constructed from synthetic and biological building blocks or from biological building blocks that are taken out of their natural environment, using both hyperbranched and self-assembly approaches, was reviewed. The capsules that are discussed can be considered as the simplest mimics

Capsule–Capsule Conversion by Guest Encapsulation
Angewandte Chemie, 2016AbstractGuest‐induced M18L6–M24L8 capsule–capsule conversion is reported. Both capsules are composed of PdII ethylenediamine units (M) and 1,3,5‐tris(3,5‐pyrimidyl)pyrimidine (L), and form trigonal bipyramidal (M18L6) and octahedral (M24L8) closed‐shell structures with huge hydrophobic inner spaces.

Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Clinics of North America, 2015
Colon capsule endoscopy (CCE) is a minimally invasive technique specifically designed to explore the colon without sedation and air insufflation. CCE may overcome some of the limitations of colonoscopy. Second-generation CCE (CCE-2) was proved accurate in detecting colonic neoplastic lesions when used in average-risk individuals.

Posterior capsule opacification and anterior capsule opacification
Current Opinion in Opthalmology, 2001Posterior capsule opacification (PCO) is still the most frequent complication of cataract surgery. A variety of studies has led to a better understanding of the pathogenesis of PCO, and strategies of molecular biology have produced new therapeutic options, such as immunological techniques or gene therapeutic approaches.

Haemophilus influenzae: capsule vaccine and capsulation genetics
Molecular Medicine Today, 1996In 1931, Dr Margaret Pittman reported her discovery that Haemophilus influenzae strains responsible for meningitis had a polysaccharide capsule, and that one capsular type, serotype b, was responsible for nearly all cases. Diverse programmes of research aimed at understanding and exploiting this seminal observation culminated, in the 1980s, in the ...
