Estimation of capture probabilities using generalized estimating equations and mixed effects approaches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Modeling individual heterogeneity in capture probabilities has been one of the most challenging tasks in capture-recapture studies. Heterogeneity in capture probabilities can be modeled as a function of individual covariates, but correlation structure ...

Underreporting of meningococcal disease incidence in the Netherlands: results from a capture-recapture analysis based on three registration sources with correction for false positive diagnoses. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In order to come to a reliable evaluation of the effectiveness of the chosen vaccination policy regarding meningococcal disease, the completeness of registrations on meningococcal disease in the Netherlands was estimated with the capture-recapture method.

Counting the homeless in Papua New Guinea 2024 population and housing census

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Journal of Rural and Community Studies, 2023
The 2011 population census in Papua New Guinea (PNG) failed to generate reliable data due to logistical constraints and inadequate capacity. Addressing this, this conceptual communication analyses the benefits of using single contact census, capture ...

Invasive meningococcal disease in the Veneto region of Italy: A capture-recapture analysis for assessing the effectiveness of an integrated surveillance system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
open8noBACKGROUND: Epidemiology of Neisseria meningitidis has been changing since the introduction of universal vaccination programmes against meningococcal serogroup C (MenC) and meningococcal serogroup B (MenB) has now become dominant.

Individual heterogeneity and identifiability in capture–recapture models

open access: yesAnimal Biodiversity and Conservation, 2007
Heterogeneidad individual e identificabilidad en modelos de captura–recaptura La heterogeneidad individual en las probabilidades de detección representa un problema para la modelación del procedimiento de captura–recaptura mucho más serio de lo que ...

Estimation of the adolescent pregnancy rate in Thailand 2008–2013: an application of capture-recapture method

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2020
Background Adolescent pregnancy is an important health and social issue that affects both individual and social well-being. However, deriving a national estimate is challenging in a country with multiple incomplete national databases especially the ...

Reinfestation of Streblidae ectoparasites (Diptera) in Carollia perspicillata (Linnaeus, 1758) (Chiroptera) Reinfestação de ectoparasitas Streblidae (Diptera) em Carollia perspicillata (Linnaeus, 1758) (Mammalia: Chiroptera)

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Parasitologia Veterinária, 2011
The mark-recapture method allows analysis on the variation in the abundance of bat ectoparasites at consecutive captures. The objectives of this study were to compare the pattern of Streblidae parasitism between capture and recapture of C. perspicillata;

Integrating dead recoveries in open‐population spatial capture–recapture models

open access: yesEcosphere, 2021
Integrating dead recoveries into capture–recapture models can improve inference on demographic parameters. But dead‐recovery data do not only inform on individual fates; they also contain information about individual locations.

Latent class recapture models with flexible behavioural response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Recapture models based on conditional capture probabilities are explored. These encompass all possible forms of time-dependence and behavioural response to capture. Covariates are used to deal with observed heterogeneity, while unobserved heterogeneity

Harnessing Controlled Dealloying–Support Coupling for Ultrastable PtNi Catalysts in PEMFC Applications

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A controllable alloying–dealloying strategy constructs PtNi core–shell nanoparticles confined within an N‐doped carbon framework. Selective ammonia‐assisted dealloying forms a Pt‐rich shell while immobilizing Ni as Ni–N/C moieties, synergistically stabilizing the catalyst.
