From Data to Knowledge to Wisdom: Lessons Learned From the Vancouver Rat Project

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
A synthesis of 15 years of research conducted by the Vancouver Rat Project revealed that: (1) Pathogen ecology within rat colonies is the result of complex interactions among rats, pathogens, and vectors. (2) Local and global population structures influence rat and pathogen ecology.

Reusing Geospatial Data of Invasive Alien Insect Species From the Literature: Significance, Challenges, and Potential

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
We use bibliometric analysis to evaluate geospatial data reuse for invasive alien insect species (IAIS). Of 1032 relevant publications, 51.0% lacked downloadable raw data. Integrating cross‐regional, temporal, and multi‐species data could address single‐study limitations, but data scarcity remains a barrier.

Morphotype Bias, Morph Specific Recruitment and No Elevation‐Life History Relation in High Altitude Mesquite Lizard Populations

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Site‐level differences in population growth (λ) and phenotype frequencies. Mountain silhouettes represent the three study sites. Morph relative abundances are shown in the colored vertical bar. Point estimates and confidence intervals of λ for each site are displayed below, with the dashed line marking the threshold for demographic stability (λ = 1 ...

Parasites at the Summit: Unexpected Geographic Distribution of the Blood Parasite Lineage Found in the Endangered Giant Lizard of Tenerife

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
We combined microscopic screening and molecular phylogenetic analyses to characterize blood parasites infecting Gallotia intermedia from the coastal cliffs of Montaña de Guaza and to place these infections in a broader biogeographic context. We detected apicomplexan parasites of the genus Karyolysus infecting 53.6% of G.

Beyond Manoeuvre Theory for European Defence

open access: yesGlobal Policy, EarlyView.
