Evaluating the efficacy of tagging adhesives for insect tracking

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
Two‐part epoxy resin delivered the strongest RFID tag adhesion on carabid beetles, exceeding polyvinyl acetate, cosmetic latex and cyanoacrylate adhesives. Adhesive performance was consistent across Harpalus, Leistus and Poecilus; species effects were non‐significant, supporting a broadly applicable protocol for carabid RFID tagging studies.

A nonlinear association between chronic stress and instrumental reward learning under Pavlovian conflict: Behavioural and computational evidence

open access: yesBritish Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Chronic stress, arising from prolonged exposure to unpredictable challenges, is common in everyday life and may alter cognitive processes. However, few human studies have empirically examined the association between chronic stress and reward learning, which is critical for navigating uncertain environments.

Resilience Processes Facilitating the Transition to Adulthood Among At‐Risk Young Adult Arabs in Israel

open access: yesChild &Family Social Work, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Resilience has been acknowledged as an important aspect of a holistic understanding of emerging adults who face structural and cultural challenges. As such, it serves as a framework for empirical research to examine the processes through which minoritized young adults navigate and better adapt to intersectional stressors across sociopolitical,

Evaluating synthetic substitutes to reduce illegal harvesting and support species recovery

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Providing synthetic substitutes is a widely promoted strategy to shift consumer demand away from wildlife products derived from threatened species. Yet, there is little evidence on whether product substitution prevents illegal or unsustainable harvesting and contributes to the recovery of threatened populations.

A non-technical overview of spatially explicit capture–recapture models

open access: yesJournal of Ornithology, 2010
Most capture-recapture studies are inherently spatial in nature, with capture probabilities depending on the location of traps relative to animals. The spatial component of the studies has until recently, however, not been incorporated in statistical ...

Capture‐recapture

American Ethnologist, 2022
ABSTRACTCapture‐recapture, a method devised for estimating wildlife population sizes using technologies like bird banding, has been repurposed for use with “rare and elusive” human populations. Capture‐recapture is implemented to count “key populations,” groups that constitute a small portion of the general population but are at high risk of HIV ...

A Bayesian, combinatorial approach to capture–recapture

Theoretical Population Biology, 2006
It is shown that, in the capture-recapture method, the widely used formulae of Bailey or Chapman-Seber give the most likely value for the size of the population, but systematically underestimate the probability that the population is larger than any given size.

Capture-Recapture Models

Journal of the American Statistical Association, 2000
Here I briefly review capture-recapture models as they apply to estimation of demographic parameters (e.g., population size, survival, recruitment, emigration, and immigration) for wild animal populations. These models are now also widely used in a variety of other applications, such as the census undercount, incidence of disease, criminality ...
