Environmental DNA as a Detection and Quantitative Tool for Brown Bullhead Catfish (Ameiurus nebulosus): A Comparison With Conventional Netting

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 4, July‐August 2026.
Multiple environmental DNA (eDNA) methods were compared with each other and with fyke netting for detecting invasive brown bullhead catfish. eDNA sampling combined with catfish‐specific metabarcoding provides sensitive detection and effectively complements traditional netting for biosecurity.

The Effect of Temperature on Trophic Discrimination of Stable Isotopes (13C and 15N) and Biokinetics in Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio, L. 1758)

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, Volume 345, Issue 6, Page 535-544, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Stable isotope analysis (SIA) provides essential information toward a better understanding of trophic ecology. However, the interpretation of SIA results relies on assumptions about the trophic discrimination factor (TDF), which aims to improve the accuracy but may lead to bias.

Automated Video Analysis of the Specific Effects of the Size and Concentration of Polystyrene Microplastics on the Swimming Behavior of the Crucian Carp (Carassius carassius)

open access: yesIEEE Access
The size and concentration of polystyrene microplastics (PS-MPs) may affect the behavior of fish, but sufficient evidence is lacking due to laborious, inefficient and fallible observation.

Joint toxic effects of galaxolide and cadmium on Carassius auratus under polluting flow conditions containing soil-water interfaces from urban areas

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2009
The polluting flow containing soil-water interfaces from urban areas was simulated under laboratory conditions in order to evaluate better the toxicity of environmental pollutants in natural water.

Worldwide Invasions of Centrarchidae: The Dark Side of the Sunfish Family

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, Volume 27, Issue 4, Page 781-812, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Freshwater fish invasions are major drivers of global ecological change, disrupting native biodiversity and ecosystem functions. However, many invasive fish hold significant socioeconomic value, resulting in conflict over their management. Centrarchidae, which are globally distributed and are important for sportfishing and aquaculture, are now
