Decomposition of NO on Tungsten Carbide and Molybdenum Carbide Surfaces

Catalysis Letters, 2001
The decomposition of 15NO on C/W(111), C/W(110), and on monolayer and bulk C/Mo/W(111) surfaces is compared based on temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) measurements. Our results indicate that the decomposition of 15NO occurs readily over all surfaces, and the only 15N-containing reaction products are 15N2 and ...

Formation and spectroscopy of carbides

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2001
We review the evidence for carbides in space both from infrared spectroscopy and direct measurements on presolar grains extracted from primitive meteorites. The paper includes a discussion of the structural properties of silicon carbide and metal carbides and their formation routes from the gas phase.

Metallographic Studies of Iron Carbide and Tungsten Carbide

Nature, 1958
IN most metallographic investigations of steels or of cemented carbides the fine details of the carbides are not studied. We have just completed an etching study of iron carbides made in three different ways and of some tungsten carbide (1/32-in. equilateral triangles) single crystals.

Silicon Carbide Coatings

1991
A process is described for forming silicon carbide coatings on nickel based superalloys by: i) nitriding the alloy or depositing a titanium nitride film on the alloy by reactive sputtering; ii) vapour phase chemica deposition of a thin film of titanium nitride; iii) annealing in a nitrogen and hydrogen atmosphere; iv) vapour phase chemical deposition ...
