Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Production and Properties of High Entropy Carbide Based Hardmetals
Dense, high-entropy carbide cobalt-bonded hardmetals with two different compositions, namely (Hf-Ta-Ti-Nb-V)C-19.2 vol% Co and (Ta-Ti-Nb-V-W)C-19.2 vol% Co, were successfully manufactured by gas pressure sintering (SinterHIP) at 1400 °C and 100 bar Ar ...

Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

RESEARCH ON SiC FOR INTERFACE QUALITY [PDF]
A new thermal oxidation process of growing a dry oxide then following with a wet re-oxidationanneal produces an oxide with the dielectric strength of a dry oxide and the high-quality interface of a wetoxide. MIS field effect transistors (MISFET’s) with a

Synthesis of Metastable Ternary Pd-W and Pd-Mo Transition Metal Carbide Nanomaterials
Research and catalytic testing of platinum group transition metal carbides have been extremely limited due to a lack of reliable, simple synthetic approaches. Powder samples have been reported to phase separately above 1%, and only thin-film samples have

Effect of Oxygen Content on Surface and Subsurface Integrity During Turning of Ti–6Al–4V
This study examines how oxygen content in the ambient atmosphere affects the surface and subsurface properties of Ti–6Al–4V during turning. Results show that oxygen does not influence surface roughness. However, machining in an extremely high vacuum‐adequate atmosphere increases surface hardness by up to 7.8% and induces compressive residual stresses ...
