Carbohydrate Antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) Represents the Disease Activity of Nontuberculous Mycobacteria

Mycobacterial Diseases, 2015
Pulmonary MAC disease causes pulmonary involvement, such as bronchiectasis and small nodules, particularly in the middle lobe and lingular segment. An evaluation of the efficacy of pulmonary MAC disease treatment is difficult. The investigation of biomarkers against MAC infection may lead to a more precise evaluation of the treatment for MAC infection.

Predictive Value of Serum Carbohydrate Antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) for Early Mortality in Advanced Pancreatic Cancer

Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer, 2017
Levels of carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) in metastatic pancreatic cancer are used in daily practice as a marker of response to chemotherapy. The association between CA19-9 levels and mortality remains uncertain. This study sought to determine the most accurate level of CA19-9 associated with early mortality, both at diagnosis and during the course ...

The prognostic value of serum lactate dehydrogenase levels in patients with carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA)- and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9)-negative colorectal cancer

Surgery Today
Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is an enzyme involved in the cellular energy metabolism of cancer cells. We conducted this study to evaluate serum LDH as a prognostic marker for predicting the outcomes of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients with negative carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and carbohydrate antigen 19 - 9 (CA19-9) levels. The subjects of this ...

[A case of lumbar intradural and epidural abscesses presenting with elevated serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9)].

No to shinkei = Brain and nerve, 2003
An 81-year-old woman was admitted to our service because of high fever and severe lumbar pain. Neurological examination showed a nuchal stiffness and sensory disturbance of the lower extremities. CSF findings showed significantly elevated neutrophils and decreased glucose. MRI demonstrated intradural and epidural abscesses within the lumbar canal.

Diagnostic Significance of Cancer- Associated Carbohydrate Antigen (CA 19-9) Concentrations in Pancreatic Juice

Pancreas, 1993
This study evaluated the diagnostic significance of concentrations of the cancer-associated carbohydrate antigen CA19-9 in pure pancreatic juice (PPJ) collected by endoscopic cannulation. We also attempted to elucidate the features and source of the increased CA19-9 concentration found in the pancreatic juice of patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP ...

Comparative study on the expression of the blood group antigens Le a, Le b, Le x, Le y and the carbohydrate antigens CA 19-9 and CA-50 in chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic carcinoma

Virchows Archiv A Pathological Anatomy and Histopathology, 1989
The expression of the blood group antigens Le a, Le b, Le x, Le y and the carbohydrate antigens CA 19-9 and CA-50 was studied in 20 ductal pancreatic carcinomas, 24 pancreases with chronic pancreatitis and 10 normal fetal and adult pancreases. CA 19-9, CA-50 and Le a showed the strongest staining intensity, the highest percentage of labelled cells, and

Effect of baseline carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) level on overall survival (OS) in NAPOLI-1 trial: A phase III study of MM-398 (nal-IRI), with or without 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin (5-FU/LV), versus 5-FU/LV in metastatic pancreatic cancer (mPAC) previously treated with gemcitabine-based therapy.

Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2016
425 Background: CA19-9 has been shown to correlate with response to therapy and OS in patients with mPAC. NAPOLI-1, a randomized phase 3 study evaluated nal-IRI, a nanoliposomal formulation of irinotecan, with or without 5-FU/LV vs 5-FU/LV in patients with mPAC previously treated with gemcitabine-based therapy.

[Mediastinal mature teratoma perforating into the lung with elevated serum carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) levels; report of a case].

Kyobu geka. The Japanese journal of thoracic surgery, 2003
A 17-year-old woman was suddenly seized with anterior chest pain and admitted to our hospital. Chest X-ray, computed tomography (CT) scan and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a mass shadow in the left middle lung field associated with the left pleural effusion and high serum carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9) levels (58.5 U/ml).

[A case of primary urotherial carcinoma with glandular differentiation of the renal pelvis with high serum level of carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9)].

Hinyokika kiyo. Acta urologica Japonica, 2012
A 63-year-old man visited our hospital with body weight loss. Laboratory examination revealed a high serum level of carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) and LDH. There were no abnormal findings in the gastrointestinal tract. Enhanced abdominal computed tomography (CT) revealed a renal tumor, 5×3 cm in diameter, in the right lower pole and multiple lymph ...
