The Transcription Factor WFZP Interacts with the Chromatin Remodeler TaSYD to Regulate Root Architecture and Nitrogen Uptake Efficiency in Wheat

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 15, April 17, 2025.
Root development and nitrogen uptake efficiency are vital for crop productivity. Du, Li, Jiang, et al. show that the wheat transcription factor WFZP and the chromatin remodeler TaSYD form a complex within the nucleus, thereby activating the expression of genes associated with root development and nitrate transporters, ultimately enhancing both root ...

Host Plasma Microenvironment in Immunometabolically Impaired HIV Infection Leads to Dysregulated Monocyte Function and Synaptic Transmission Ex Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 16, April 24, 2025.
Network‐based risk stratification of people living with HIV (PWH) on prolonged therapy using multi‐omics data identifies 44% of the patients are at risk of immunometabolic complications. A senescence‐associated myeloid cell‐driven plasma microenvironment drives immunometabolic dysregulation in at‐risk PWH.

A Reversible and Dynamic Surface Functionalization for Fluidity Controlled Multivalent Recognition of Lectins and Bacteria

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A reversible wet chemical surface functionalization results in dynamic multivalent receptors showing ligand‐specific high affinity for lectins and bacteria. Abstract The paper reports the design of multivalent bacterial receptors based on reversible self‐assembled monolayers (rSAMs) on gold and glass substrates, mimicking the ligand display on host ...

Neophytadiene, a Plant Specialized Metabolite, Mediates the Virus‐Vector‐Plant Tripartite Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tomato chlorosis virus (ToCV) infection induces production of neophytadiene, a volatile resulting from chlorophyll degradation that is highly attractive to whiteflies. OBP2, an odorant‐binding protein from insect vector B. tabaci, exhibits a strong binding affinity for neophytadiene.

Engineered Hydrogels for Organoid Models of Human Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is characterized by lipid accumulation and extracellular matrix stiffening. An in vitro NAFLD model is developed using engineered hydrogels (G′ ≈ 1–6 kPa) and iPSC‐derived hepatic organoids. It is demonstrated that higher stiffness can increase lipid droplet accumulation, fibrosis, and metabolic dysregulation ...
