PM 2.5 and black carbon associated with acute ischaemic stroke: an ecological study
Background Although both particulate matter with a diameter of 2.5 μm (PM 2.5) and black carbon are associated with cardiovascular disease, data on the correlation of PM 2.5 and black carbon with acute ischaemic stroke, particularly based on ecological ...

This study uncovers the unexplored role of intermolecular interactions in multiphoton absorption in coordination polymers. By analyzing [Zn2tpda(DMA)2(DMF)0.3], it shows how the electronic coupling of the chromophores and confinement in the MOF enhance two‐and three‐photon absorption.

Carbon-catalyzed oxidation of SO2 by NO2 and air [PDF]
A series of experiments was performed using carbon particles (commercial furnace black) as a surrogate for soot particles. Carbon particles were suspended in water, and gas mixtures were bubbled into the suspensions to observe the effect of carbon ...

This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

An ecological study of PM2.5 and black carbon and acute hemorrhagic stroke: a long term effect study
Both PM2.5 and black carbon particle are associated with acute ischemic stroke. There is limited data on the correlation of long term effects of PM2.5 and black carbon on acute hemorrhagic stroke with a large sample size.

A Global Modeling Study on Carbonaceous Aerosol Microphysical Characteristics and Radiative Effects [PDF]
Recently, attention has been drawn towards black carbon aerosols as a short-term climate warming mitigation candidate. However the global and regional impacts of the direct, indirect and semi-direct aerosol effects are highly uncertain, due to the ...

This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Exploring the use of mobile sensors for noise and black carbon measurements in an urban environment [PDF]
Mobile measurements have been collected on a bicycle equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) in a few connecting streets in Gent (Belgium). The 1-s sound pressure levels and 1-s black carbon concentrations were measured. In addition, 5 continuous
