Numerical Simulation of Combustion of Waste Textile Pyrolysis Products in a 660 MW Coal-Fired Boiler
ObjectivesThe waste textile pyrolysis products coupled with coal-fired power generation can not only increase the treatment capacity of waste textiles and reduce power production costs, but also contribute positively to carbon emission reduction in coal ...

A comprehensive model atom was constructed for C I using the most up-to-date atomic data. We evaluated non-local thermodynamical equilibrium (NLTE) line formation for neutral carbon in classical 1D models representing atmospheres of late-type stars ...

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

CO2FIX at the landscape level - an application for the Veluwe area, the Netherlands [PDF]
The carbon fixation model CO2FIX was adapted to run on landscape scale, and was applied to the Veluwe area, a forested region in the Netherlands. After a simulation of 500 years, the average carbon stock per hectare in the forest products compartment is ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Physical and practical constraints on atmospheric methane removal technologies
Despite their apparent utility in mitigating climate change, technologies for removing methane from air are in early stages of development. Here we evaluate the limiting physical constraints, for three types of systems: two- and three-dimensional ...

Biomass-derived carbon materials for hydrogen Storage: Challenges and future perspectives
Hydrogen is a promising energy carrier for a sustainable and carbon-free future due to its high energy density and zero emissions. However, developing efficient, safe, and economical hydrogen storage systems remains a key challenge.

The impact of altered management on long-term agricultural soil carbon stocks [PDF]
Land use in general and particularly agricultural practices can significantly influence soil carbon storage. In this paper, we investigate the long-term effects of management changes on soil carbon stock dynamics on a Swedish farm where C concentrations ...
