Towards Standardization: Testing and Design of Carbon Concrete Composites
2017The standardization of testing methods and design approaches is one key to overcome barriers which interfere radical innovation in the AEC (Architectural, Engineering and Construction) industry. Currently, the radical innovative Carbon Concrete Composite, including textile reinforced concrete (TRC), embraces a widespread set of testing methods ...

In their review of isotopic data from marine carbonate concretions, Mozley and Burns (1993, p. 8 i) incorrectly associate our work (Dix and Mullins 1987) with their interpretation of the effects of recrystallization on isotopic compositions in concretions. Mozley and Burns (1993, p.

Evolution of pH and chemical composition of pore solution in carbonated concrete
Construction and Building Materials, 2012Abstract An investigation of carbonation in concrete, the pH and chemical composition change of the pore solution in concrete with different degrees of carbonation, was presented. The concrete samples were manufactured using ordinary portland cement and fly ash with dimension of 100 mm diameter by 3 mm in height, and six different mix proportions ...

Carbon nanotube/cement composites for crack monitoring of concrete structures
Composite Structures, 2017Abstract The feasibility of using a carbon nanotube/cement composite as a crack sensor for concrete structures is evaluated. First, the relationship between the crack width and electrical conductivity of the composite material was investigated. Then, this analysis was repeated for the composite embedded in reinforced mortar beams, using three-point ...

Compressive Behavior of Concrete Confined by Carbon Fiber Composite Jackets
Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 2000This paper describes axial compression test results of 27 concrete cylinders confined by carbon fiber reinforced polymer composite jackets. The experimental parameters include plain concrete compressive strength and the thickness of the composite jacket.

Microbial processes: Controls on the shape and composition of carbonate concretions
Marine Geology, 1993Abstract Shape, size and mineralogical/chemical compositions of carbonate concretions vary considerably. The questions to be answered are—Why do they form at all? What processes are involved? Why do they so often form as regular spheroids? Why do they sometimes form laterally-extensive bands?

Stable isotope composition of the carbonate concretion in loess and climate change
Quaternary International, 1997Carbonate concretions are commonly found in the loess in China. Oxygen and carbon isotopic compositions of carbonate concretions collected from 14 different paleosols (S1–S14) in the Lishi Formation of Luochuan loess section, China were analysed. The isotopic compositions of concretion in loess are useful tools in paleoclimatic study.

CORROSION 2015, 2015
Abstract The corrosion propagation of steel embedded in concrete is still not well understood. It is known that corrosion products build up and eventually cause cracks (when the metal loss reaches a critical penetration xcrit) by exceeding the tensile stress that concrete can support due to the larger volume that the corrosion products ...
