A numerical and experimental study of light obscuration in laparoscopy
Purpose Aerosol particles produced during laparoscopic electrosurgery (ES) obscure light and reduce visibility. This work investigates the effect of the flow rate of insufflating carbon dioxide on light obscuration.

CIRCULATORY EFFECTS OF CARBON DIOXIDE INSUFFLATION OF THE PERITONEAL CAVITY FOR LAPAROSCOPY
SUMMARY Measurements of cardiac output, mean arterial pressure, central venous pressure, and heart rate were made in seven patients undergoing laparoscopy. Measurements were made before and after insufflation of the peritoneum with carbon dioxide, and again after intravenous injection of oxprenolol 2 mg.

Efficacy and safety of CO2 insufflation during colonoscopy. Clinical trial
Introduction: Colonoscopy is the technique of choice for the study of colon’s disease and in certain pathologies a therapeutic option. Colon insufflation normally performed using ambient air which led this technique to be painful.

Hazards of carbon dioxide insufflation during thoracoscopy
This assumption is based on previous reports showing that when more than 70% of the lung is atelectatic, compensation by HPV appears to be ineffective.2 The authors prefer tracheal intubation during thoracoscopy to endobronchial anaesthesia because of its simplicity, decreased cost, and improved oxygenation.
