Carbon Dioxide Removal via Passive Thermal Approaches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A paper describes a regenerable approach to separate carbon dioxide from other cabin gases by means of cooling until the carbon dioxide forms carbon dioxide ice on the walls of the physical device.

Extracorporeal Carbon Dioxide Removal

open access: yes, 2019
Mechanical ventilation (MV) represents a lifesaving treatment for patients with respiratory failure, but it could be harmful through the development of ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI). In patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), protective MV strategies with low tidal volume to minimize VILI have been demonstrated to reduce lung ...

The Evolution of Aerosol Jet Printing, A Review: Enhancing Material Versatility and Improvements for Next‐Generation Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Aerosol Jet Printing (AJP) has emerged as a versatile additive manufacturing technique for high‐resolution, conformal, and multi‐material printing. This review highlights advances in printable materials, substrate compatibility, post‐processing, characterization, and process innovations, while critically discussing current challenges and future ...

Carbon dioxide removal geoengineering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Carbon dioxide removal (CDR) geoengineering, the proposal to counteract anthropogenic climate change by large-scale removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, is playing an increasingly prominent role in the modelling that informs international ...

Waveguide Photoactuators: Materials, Fabrication, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Waveguide photoactuators convert guided light into mechanical motion. Their tethered‐flexible design enables minimally invasive surgery and confined‐space robotics. This review aims to guide materials selection, device design, and system integration, accelerating the transition of waveguide photoactuators from laboratory prototypes to versatile ...

An ecological type nonlinear model for the removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by introducing liquid species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The average temperature of our planet is increasing in past several decades due to emission of global warming gases such as CO2, CH4, etc. in the atmosphere leading to undesirable environmental consequences. Therefore, it is necessary to find a mechanism

A Perspective on the Applications of Triphasic Gas Storage in Electrochemical Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gas storage in microporous materials positioned locally at an electrode or electrocatalyst surface enhances electrochemical processes. Abstract Microporous materials store gases under dry conditions (e.g., hydrogen or oxygen via physisorption), but in some cases microporous materials also show triphasic (e.g., in a solid|gas|liquid system) gas storage ...

Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.

Agnuside Stabilizes the Complex I Assembly Factor NDUFAF6 to Reinforce Mitochondrial Efficiency and Thermogenic Responsiveness

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Brown and beige adipocytes dissipate energy as heat, yet effective strategies to enhance their mitochondrial efficiency remain limited. Here, we identify Agnuside (AGN) as a selective stabilizer of the complex I assembly factor NDUFAF6. AGN directly binds cytosolic NDUFAF6, suppresses its ubiquitination, prolongs its half‐life, and facilitates

Influence of variable carbon dioxide concentration on carbon dioxide removal by algae pond [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A prototype laboratory scale algae pond was used in this study to determine the extent of carbon dioxide removal by the algae. Chlorella Pyrenoidosa was the algal strain employed in the study. The effect of varying the carbon dioxide concentration in the
