Properties of carbon fibers

Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids, 1994
Abstract The mechanical properties for carbon fibers are determined in terms of the elastic moduli of single crystal graphite. This is done for the two basic fiber microstructures, radial and onion skin. The final results are found through a transformation from cylindrically orthotropic to transversely isotropic properties.

Carbon Fibers and Their Composites

2014
Traditionally, the application of carbon fibers has been limited to very special fields such as aerospace and military because of their high cost. However, various techniques for low-cost carbon fibers are under development in terms of using low-cost precursors, low-cost manufacturing processes, and even functional coating methods.

Carbon Fiber Microelectrodes

1990
Electrodes of the smallest characteristic dimensions less than few micrometers have unique properties which make them very attractive for use in many electrochemical and biomedical applications. Because of the response of these small electrodes it is possible to change their properties drastically just by variation of the electrode diameter.
