Electrosynthetic control of CNT conductivity & morphology: Scale-up of the transformation of the greenhouse gas CO2 into carbon nanotubes by molten carbonate electrolysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Transformation of carbon dioxide into carbon nanotubes, CNTs, by electrolysis in molten carbonates provides a low cost route to extract and store this greenhouse gas. CNTs are more stable, compact and valuable than fuels or other CO2 conversion products, providing an incentive to remove CO2 for climate mitigation.

Preparation carbon nanotube-decorated carbon fibers under low pressure for epoxy-based unidirectional hierarchical composites with enhanced interlaminar shear strength

open access: yesPolymer Testing, 2021
Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were grown in-situ on the surface of carbon fibers (CFs) at low pressure by a vertical chemical vapor deposition (CVD) reactor. The surface of CFs was modified by electrochemical anodization, and the growth morphology

From Nature to Engineering: Mortar Volume and Interfacial Mechanics in Bioinspired Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by natural armors like nacre, this study explores how varying the volume fraction of the soft mortar layer impacts the interfacial strength and toughness of bioinspired ceramics. Experimental and computational analysis reveals that higher mortar volumes increase energy dissipation but reduce interfacial stiffness, offering insights for ...
