Characterization of low thermal conductivity PAN-based carbon fibers [PDF]

open access: yes
The microstructure and surface chemistry of eight low thermal conductivity (LTC) PAN-based carbon fibers were determined and compared with PAN-based fibers heat treated to higher temperatures. Based on wide-angle x ray diffraction, the LTC PAN fibers all

Active Thermal Field Integration for Marangoni‐Driven Salt Rejection and Water Collection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermal gradient fabric (TGF) evaporator with an auxiliary active thermal field can simultaneously increase evaporation rates and achieve long‐term salt rejection. The auxiliary active thermal field is well integrated with solar energy to construct moderate, extensive, and circulating Marangoni flow for salt rejection.

Rutting performance of asphalt mixtures containing treated RCA and reinforced by carbon fibers

open access: yesAiBi Revista de Investigación, Administración e Ingeniería
This study examined the rutting performance of hot asphalt mixtures containing treated RCA and reinforced by carbon fibers. The methodology involved substituting RCA instead of coarse virgin aggregates in the several percentages (20, 40, 60, 80, and 100%

Nested ceramic fibers and piggyback micro-mold method for producing same [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Special C-shaped carbon fibers, melt spun from mesophase pitch, were used as micro-molds to form nested dual fibers and ceramic fibers. By wetting these carbon fibers in a wet chemical precursor, and subsequently heat treating, ceramic fibers of various ...

Making Photoresponsive Metal–Organic Frameworks an Effective Class of Heterogeneous Photocatalyst

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes photoresponsive MOFs for photocatalytic applications, focusing on their capacity to enhance light harvesting, charge transfer, and surface reactions. While existing studies provide foundational insights, emerging characterization techniques enable a deeper understanding of photoresponsive MOFs.

The crystallization of tough thermoplastic resins in the presence of carbon fibers [PDF]

open access: yes
The crystallization kinetics of the thermoplastic resins poly(phenylene sulfide) (PPS) and poly(aryl-ether-ether-ketone) (PEEK) in the presence and in the abscence of carbon fibers was studied.

Dissemination, resuspension, and filtration of carbon fibers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Carbon fiber transport was studied using mathematical models established for other pollution problems. It was demonstrated that resuspension is not a major factor contributing to the risk.
